I think you’ve misunderstood me, Yohanes. The issue is not about the acceptability of MP3 as a format but the fact that NewErrolJayLibraryGuy2002 was mistakenly thinking that to “convert” an MP3 to FLAC automatically changes the file from lossy to a lossless format. It doesn’t. Hence the reason why there have been regular posts on this forum about upscaled FLAC files. It isn’t a practice we encourage.

No, that's okay. As long as you understand that, as redwave put it so succinctly, once an audio file has been downgraded to a lossy format (MP3) nothing can be done to enhance it to a lossless format. Changing the file extension doesn't change the audio content.
