When I started to collect my demo MP3s I did not even know about the whole universe of Library Music (yes, in capital letters!)
I finally found "my music". Like I stated in the other thread, I always wished to have the instrumental music and loops in technology VHS about the C64 and in general the SEGA MegaDrive/Genesis music. And now I found that. The covers with a VCR remote control, called "Technology of Tomorrow", released 1987... I felt like a child in a candy shop with unlimited money.
I spent dozens and dozens of hours getting through the major labels several times. Easily browsed thousands of files. Result were 450 invidiual, 128 kBit/s MP3s. 44 kHz, stereo, no watermark, full length. I loved my collection and they replaced my daily music listening really fast. No Tina Turner blarring over the actual music, no pseudo-cool black hopper yelling nonsense from the radio. And the "best 80s stations" here always thinking "The 80s" were "Take on Me" and "The Final Countdown". Just great music.
Then I learnt to enjoy Discogs. Never understood the point of it, now it's such a treasure. At that point I also decided to add the cover arts to my files. And I enjoyed that so much! Now I am in the rabbit hole - discovering new music through this page, the Fandom. Three users here were
incredibly helpful with my library that they made me replace about 90-95% of my library with High-Q files.
Now, LMT, the fandom and Discogs are permanently open. Unfortunately, as a MP3-collecting, CD-enjoying fan of the subgenres electronic/technology/high-tech from 1980 to 1999, I am in the very minority and the vast majority of shares are missing the mark for my personal taste. But at least I am covering that spectrum too
I don't know, it feels so great to be here, like a small pub nobody knows about but is full of great people. Obscure labels, interesting libraries, so much effort that is being shared here!
Also, on a funny side note: I just registered for the password for musrc. And when I used my spam eMail address, I have been rejected and was so miffed
Then I retried and now I am here, and I like it very much!
