Bruton Vaults
« on: October 16, 2025, 12:43:36 PM »

Bruton Music is my #1 go to library. Plenty of other labels are cool and have a ton of great styles, but when I am in a GET DOWN sort of mood, I always reach for a Bruton album. It was my first exposure to library music, and maybe that has something to do with it, but for me, the 1978-1985 period of Bruton Music is always chef's kiss no matter where I drop myself in the collection. So when Flemming suggested I grab the Bruton Vaults collection from UPM, it was a no-brainer and a labor of love. I hadn't paid much attention to my Bruton collection in a number of years, having enthusiastically collected most of what was available right from the getgo, and was quite pleased to find out that most of the golden years material had been re-released digitally. To be honest, some of these transfers are real stinkers and some sound great. It's a mixed bag and I wish UPM/APM had been more consistent with its remastering/transfer processes. It's still great to just have it all in one place, though.

There are 315 albums total in this collection. BV001-BV027 are from APM Music, the rest are from Universal Production Music. I don't know if there are any differences between the 2 company's releases. If there are, and someone can point them out, I will gladly get the first 27 from UPM and upload to compare.

I have compiled which of the original releases are here and which aren't. For reference to which album the BV entry corresponds to, please refer to UPM's BV page.

BV020 was originally Peer International Library, cat: PIL 9001. I'm not sure why it is included here, but it is.

I had some issues with creating multiple free mega accounts, so one of the 4 batches here is on mediafire. For help downloading with mediafire, please refer to this tutorial for how to bypass error messages using jDownloader.

Very many thanks for this BWP. I know how time consuming it can be to download, convert to FLAC and tag these files. The Mega links work well for me. Mediafire, though, is quoting ridiculously long download times. But I'll just get JDownloader do what it can.

Incidentally, I've found that apart from remasters sometimes being of poorer quality occasionally one or two tracks from the originals don't get included I presume for copyright reasons or simply the composer refusing permission. I don't know whether that's the case with any of the Bruton Vaults series but I've recently found that with the Happy Records remasters where one album (Music Boutique) ironically omits the track that it gets its title from! I'm currently running short on local storage space so it's probably best to compare the old vinyl rips with the new remasters before deciding which to keep.

If you drag and drop the individual links one at a time into jdownloader like in my tutorial it should download without limits.

I did try this out myself just to be sure I wasn't dreaming. I downloaded every file in the mediafire link in 3 and a half minutes at 85MB/s. Sorry you have problems, my method does work.

Thanks. You must be sick of telling us to go and look at your tutorial! I thought I'd mastered it. Download speed has improved but still slow compared with Mega. But I'll get there.

No need to apologise. It's probably Mediafire doesn't like French connections!

Amazing, thanks a billion for your hard work BlackwatchPlaid. Wow really appreciate it.  8]

Ps. I like Mediafire more, It will take me a week or so to download the Mega links because of the 5 Gb limit.
Really hope the links will last.

Thanks again BlackwatchPlaid.  :)

Awesome stuff BlackwatchPlaid! Thanks for this! I know it takes a lot of work to pull this off!

I would love to see you work on the Sonoton Vinyl and Amphonic music libraries next.
