The late Francis Monkman is a name familiar to many library music fans for his work with KPM and Bruton. Monkman first came to public notice as guitarist and keyboardist for the progressive rock band Curved Air. I was reminded this week that his fellow Curved Air member violinist Darryl Way did some tracks for KPM. He also worked for the Music De Wolfe label. And this got me thinking of combinations of band members, and then family members, who worked for library labels.
The late brothers Geoff and Trevor Bastow worked extensively for library labels. Their brother Phil is also a musician.
Brian Bennett joined the iconic British group the Shadows in 1961. But he also has had a long career composing for library labels. His son Warren started working with the Shadows in 2004, and like his father has composed extensively for library labels, including Bruton.
I'm sure there must be some other examples out there.
