Notable British CD/digital label under De Wolfe Music, gradually taking over for De Wolfe's
LP releases in the mid-80s onwards. It's still active.
Initially based at 80-88 Wardour Street, they moved to 11-20 Capper Street, London c. 1997/1998.
It seems the catalogue numbers don't always follow the actual release chronology, which is particularly obvious for the run of releases in 1992-1993, where they changed logo and branding from "deWolfe Music" ('triangle' logo) to the new "dW" logo; DWCDs 0130, 0133, 0135-0136, 0138, 0141-43, 0145, 0149 and 0151 all have the old logo, whereas DWCDs 0124, 0131-0132, 0134, 0137, 0139-0140, 0144, 0146-0148, 0150 and 0152 (1993) onwards feature the new one. A bit messy!
All dates and additional info in this listing was sourced from the actual CDs, as there seems to be some inconsistencies between these and the subsequent digital reissues.

DWS/LP 3610 - Four Minus One
Nine o'clock in the morning and what sort of time is that for Jazzers?! Still, they rolled up. Cold, disgruntled and maybe just a little thirsty. Four sweaty hours later and not a decent take in sight. "How's about lunch?" says Brian. This meets with approval. On the way out of the pub, Pete decides to take on the wighing machine. It lost. "Eck! I must be the heaviest drummer in the country!", as the needle does a paradiddle on the end stop. Hurrying back to avoid any repair bills, the session begins to swing. "I can't understand it", says Tony, "the darn thing was better before I spent a fortune overhauling it!" That's Murphy's Law for you. Speaking of which, after the best performance of the afternoon an ominous click from the talkback and Cliff enquires, "shall we go for a take this time guys?" Then PEte in that unmistakable Potteries accent, "I think we'd better all naff off back to the pub!" So they did.

SIMON MAY
Of his recent work, perhaps Simon May is most known for writing the themes to EASTENDERS and HOWARD'S WAY, both of which won the TRIC Awards for TV Theme Music fo the Year in 1986 and 1987. EASTENDERS was also nominated for the IVOR NOVELLO best TV Theme and in the following year the number 1 million selling single EVERY LOSER WINS by NICK BERRY went on to win the IVOR NOVELLO AWARD for best selling song of the year which Simon co-write/produced.
As well as concentrating on writing music for television (other TV themes include EVERYMAN, SKORPION, COLD WARRIOR, HOLIDAY '86, PEOPLE (all for BBC TV), EMERGENCY 999 (TVS), THE ROXY (Tyne Tees), and the ITV Olympics Theme (Thames TV), Simon's writing and producing has resulted in the sale of over 8 million records during his career in the music business (and this does not include cover recordings of his music, like the new versions of EASTENDERS and HOWARD'S WAY by THE SHADOWS and RICHARD CLAYDERMAN, and songs recorded by artistes like RUBY TURNER, THE POINTER SISTERS, JONATHAN BUTLER and AL JARREAU).
Much of Simon's writing has been solo, as for example in THE DAWNING, a recent Lawson/TVS produced feature film starring Anthony Hopkins, Jean Simmonds, Trevor Howard and Rebecca Pigeon. But he has also collaborated with a diverse range of talented songwriters, by writing lyrics for Jonathan Butler and music for the lyricist Don Black, and although perhaps perceived as a "commercial writer", obviously his less commercial work has inevitably been less brought to the attention of the public! Even so, his musical SMIKE, which was written for the school where he used to teach, has nevertheless gone on to become a mini-classic with schools and drama societies all over the world and been performed over six thousand times.
As well as writing the music for the fifth series of HOWARD'S WAY this year, Simon is just finishing the music for a new BBC 1 documentary to be screened in the Autumn of 1989. The Simon May Orchestra is also signed to Andrew Lloyd-Webber's record company, "Really Useful Recordxs" in partnership with Polygram.

GAELIC STEEL
The basic idea of this album was to take some of the most requested evergreen songs of Ireland, along with some original compositions, and play them on a Pedal Steel guitar. This instrument is very popular within Irish communities all over the world because of its emotive and sentimental sounds. Pedal Steel is possibly the main root of country music, which is inseparable from Irish music. The violin/fiddle is also featured on this disc, both as a solo instrument and as string accompaniment.

REG TILSLEY
Reg Tilsley studied at the London College of Music under Dr. Derry.
During the 50s he worked with his own orchestra at the BBC in Birmingham and London and had his own programmes Melody Hour, Midday Melody Hour, Morning Music and Early Birds. He wrote and arranged music for Shirley Bassey, Ruby Murray, Harry Rabinowitz and Johnny Mercer. Max Jaffa, Sidney Torch, Ted Heath and Jack Parnell were among the famous band leaders that he worked with.
His popularity during the 60s led to the very distinct Tilsley Big band Sound being requested by numerous artists including Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, The Pretty Things, Lulu, Englebert Humperdinck, Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Titch, PJ Proby, The Supremes and Tony Bennett.
Throughout this time Reg was also working with de Wolfe on various film scores. This compilation represents many of Reg's most popular and successful pieces recorded and produced by de Wolfe from this wonderful era.

Composed and orchestrated by Julian Scott
Environments is a collection of 13 pieces providing evocative images through a fusion of original effects and music.
In each case the aim was not just to produce a typical atmospheric background but to create tracks with depth, vibrancy and of filmic quality. The titles of the tracks represent the environments depicted.
The sound effects, recorded by Julian Scott, have been chosen from an unoriginal collection compiled over the past fifteen years. The scores, created over two years have been realised with orchestral sounds, soloists, world instruments and unique samples and rhythms.
Environments is Julian Scott's first CD for de Wolfe Music. Having worked at BBC Radio where he developed the sound/music resource Imagination, he went on to concentrate on composition, and as a result developed his own sound effects library - Sound Affects, which is now one of the largest privately owned libraries in England.
His current projects include: The Troop - Cinemascope, Nannies From Hell and We Can Work it Out - ITV alongside the film score for Big Dreams And Paper Planes.
He has also written music for Pepsi, Ford, Vauxhall, Orange and Mercury to name but a few!

He has performed on numerous TV shows including Soul Train, MTV, David Letterman and the Billboard Awards. Passion, energy and spirit - words that define a region, its music and its people. This CD samples some of the most well-known and distinctive musical styles and flavours of these four countries.
Salsa - Latin big band jazz musicains living in New York reworked the music of Cuba and Puerto Rico and salsa was born. It has also been influenced by, and fused with, merengue from the Dominican Republic, Colombian Cumbia and Puerto Rican plenas (calypso-like street music). It has become a global music, outgrowing the clubs of its inception and the countries it was born out of, to become a giant of the world music stage.
Rumba - Rumba often conjures up images of ballroom dancing but true Latin rumba has far more energy and spontaneity, not to mention being a lot cooler. Inescapably percussive with its Afro Cuban driving force of deep sounding congas called tamboras and the higher pitched quinto drum accompanied by vocals.
Charanga - Born out of danzón, the small orchestra dance band music influenced by Cuba's European settlers, Charanga took the feel of danzón but changed the instrumentation from a more brass-based sound to one featuring violins, bass piano and flutes.
Bolero - Romantic and passionate with a European influence. It is a slower and more sedate dance, bolstered by a laid-back and stylish Afro Cuban rhythmic groove.
Cumbia - the defining sound of Colombia, solid but deceptively complex rhythmic patterns merged with melodic toplines. Cumbia usually has a 'big band' sound and features combinations of accordions, saxophones, clarinets, tormbones, trumpets and keyboards.
Mambo - A stylish and suave big band rhythm with a golden era in the 40s and 50s which influenced other Latin styles rhythmically.
Cha-Cha (Chachachá) - its origins are not easily defined buyt Cha-Cha appears to be a mix of Cuban danzón and slower mambo rhythms, becoming a dance craze in the 50s and adopted by American big bands.
Merenge - the national music, verging on national obsession, of the Dominican Republic. At its heart lies powerful and aggressive African influenced percussion, congas hit hard and tambora drums struck with a stick. Over this rhythmic powerhouse vocals are often in the call and response style.
