From the fall of 1983 to 1994 or later the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation used the following as an opener and bumper music for
CBC Late Night, their late night presentation of vintage movies.
At first listen it sounds like a segment of "Maniac." Written and performed by Michael Sembello, it was part of the soundtrack for the hit 1983 movie
Flashdance, and was a major hit in many countries, including number one in Canada and the US. But Sembello's original recording didn't have any saxophone on it. There were several covers of "Maniac" recorded soon after this became a hit, but I haven't heard one yet with a similar sax part. So I wonder if it isn't a music library soundalike. If so it's a very close one.
