My friend, I have some good news. I downloaded 79 tracks of Digital Director DD-22 thanks to Analaura. Sadly, it's only 128k mp3, but fortunately, I renamed them from Track to DD-22_ using PowerRename and then exported to FLAC.

Be sure you don't share those files and if you do, specify this very loudly. Those files will spread and we'll have yet another transcode to detect later.

No, no, no, completely the wrong thing to do! I'm sorry but that results in a FAKE FLAC file. In other words all you have done is take the compressed lossy data and disguised it as a FLAC file. The frequency range of your newly created FLAC file won't be any different from the original 128k MP3 file. Unfortunately this will mislead people into thinking that they have a true FLAC file. Oh and unnecessarily increase the size of the file. BlackwatchPlaid has been kind to you in his post. I would go further and say you should delete the FLAC files you've created so as to ensure they do not get shared accidentally.

Yeah. True, Nido. But i don't mind it being MP3, but as long as it is not below 128kbps. But i appreciate you and Mr. Errol for the effort you guys have done for me. Again, thank you guys for the effort. :)

Ah. DD-22, but i already have one, and i let it be. But again, thank you. :)

I think you’ve misunderstood me, Yohanes. The issue is not about the acceptability of MP3 as a format but the fact that NewErrolJayLibraryGuy2002 was mistakenly thinking that to “convert” an MP3 to FLAC automatically changes the file from lossy to a lossless format. It doesn’t. Hence the reason why there have been regular posts on this forum about upscaled FLAC files. It isn’t a practice we encourage.
