A few years ago, Retromatic removed his location.
He will most likely never return to LMT, as he had some issues with a few beings on here.
He has since generated random passwords, each one unique. You have to email him for the password, and pay him.
But here’s the thing, Retromatic also hasn’t responded to anyone in close to two years, I believe.
Good luck getting in touch with him. :|
'
Yep. Good thing i managed to download all Series 100 albums before the password changed.

And, yuh. This post marks Retromatic's last post on LMT by the way. 🫤

That's actually so sad.

it is quite sad. but I think it taught the forum a lesson. What the lesson is, I'm not sure, but I know Retromatic's leaving means something.

After thinking a bit, I think Retromatic's leaving taught us to respect everyone, and keep things private to a certain degree as they should be.

Guys , goodmorning.
I've always thought over the years that we share with each other for free.
User Retromatic has made it a side to sell the music.
My thanks to al of you to keep the side alive and don't use it as a marketplace.

Gr. Nikkie

Couldn't agree more with this I'm reading only now.

Period.

Period.

I have had a huge problem with Retromatic's "business" ripping off people on this forum for a long time now but I figured staff's lack of input on the issue was an endorsement and approval of this behavior. I find selling RIPS of albums appalling. If this person was selling actual CDs it would be a different story and I'd have no complaints, but this is no different than a guy selling bootleg CDs at the bus station. You don't sell RIPS, you sell CDs and that's if you are a distributor not some rando dude with an online bodega for audio files.

I'm glad you gave your opinion because this is was not cool and while it is sad this bonehead gatekeeps rare music like that, I am glad more people can't buy RIPS of CDs anymore.

P.S.: And the amount of unearned respect this man seems to have from some users around here is sickening honestly.

P.P.S.: I see Retromatic's last visit to this forum was less than 3 weeks ago. I hope he reads this and gives me a thoughtful reply. I think he owes this community that at a bare minimum.

In my life, me and my friends have only ever bought 3 CD rips, and they were lossless with HD scans.
It’s also to note, Retromatic’s rips have digital watermarks, or fingerprints, along with QR codes built into every scan. So if you buy it, you’re not getting the full experience. If you bought something, you wouldn’t still want proof that it still belongs to someone else.

I think this could be important, that this whole time Retromatic could’ve been using a sort of guest account, where he is not signed in but can still lightly visit the forum.

I post some of his rips because, he has music I want. Music I would buy, if not for watermarks. But I got them for free, and that’s all I’d ever do.

I admire Retro Matic, Because he can at least get his hands on some very rare CDs,  Plus, the prices are reasonable,

The fact that he’s willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars on CDs shows me that he respects music and loves the Music Library.

I’ve bought physical CDs from him before, and I’m willing to wait a few weeks for the CD to arrive.

The most important reason he adds watermarks to his music is to prevent people from reselling it. I know people like that personally—they collect albums from the internet and sell them.

I sometimes buy digital copies as well,

Of course, more often than not, I trade CDs with him, since I also frequently buy rare CDs,

We admire each other, and we both really love the Music Library,

I fully understand how time-consuming it is for someone to rip CDs, scan the covers, and edit the information.

so I consider it a fee for their hard work rather than the cost of the ripping service itself.

So, in LTM, there are very few people I admire,

Finally, I’d like to point out that he used to share his recordings for free.

As for who exactly broke the rules and caused him to change his mind, I think we all know the answer.

I actually don’t know who broke Retromatic’s rules…

As for RM, I do respect him in a way. He was willing to share music after all, and he didn’t have to do that. But I don’t know if closing himself in and leaving the forum was the right thing. I think he deserves an apology, and we do too.

I’m more about trading. In my mind, it’s more reasonable. I have a bunch of music I’d love to share with him, and there’s a lot of stuff I’d love to have from him.

The controversy on this forum about him is what scares me, as I know at some point, or maybe already, he will read this and it could make him feel worse.

I don’t know who’s side to be on anymore.

I don’t know who’s side to be on anymore.

When it comes to deciding right from wrong or whether to support or oppose someone, people tend to be biased.

Let me give you an example: suppose the person breaking the rules is a good friend of yours who has been a great help to you—you’d naturally be more inclined to side with them.

So my advice is: you don’t need to take sides with anyone.

Trust your inner voice.

You can become the kind of person you admire in your heart.

In the future, you can choose to share things freely, or you can choose to exchange them with others, or use other methods.

You can become the kind of person you despise most, or you can become the kind of person you admire most.

Time will tell.

I had to agree. Even though i'm still pissed at Retromatic for what he is doing, i do think i respect him in a say, and i feel sorry for what i had done last year. I don't know what to say, but i do actually think he deserves an apology from me and my friends here at LMT. And, yeah. I agree, i adore him too, though not much, plus, the price is kinda reasonable, so yeah. I agree.

I think people sometimes go too far.

Some audiophiles seem to go bonkers when they can’t get the perfect lossless recording.

And I can’t be talking. It takes me an hour to get my own music to sound right.

But I think instead of judging someone of what they did, what they’re doing, who they are, and why they’re supposedly doing something wrong, we should just remember.

Remember that it’s just music.

We’re all here because we have some sort of connection to library music. We’re fascinated by it.

So when someone decides they want to sell their music, their CD rips, it’s not right to judge them.

And when someone decides to take it to far and disrespect them, it’s not right.

Sometimes, we should all start over and learn from our mistakes.

Because something in the line of events went wrong, and I can’t tell if we have fixed the problem or not.

LMT is a free place, and we share stuff just because other people want it, or we feel like being generous.

Retromatic was willing to share some of his own CD rips, and although they don’t work anymore, we know he helped all of us at one point.

Please, give him a break.

I think we all know the answer.

I don't know the answer, I was missing from the forums from about 2020 to 2025 so I don't know much of the drama. Could you say who it is?

It wasn't a drama it was a mistake. Do you really think it helpful for that person to be named in this forum? I think it's time that this increasingly boring subject is brought to a close and we get back to the music. And, no, it wasn't me!
