Thanks for 055, Retronic!

This album helps provide lossless tracks for Small Town, Prague Elegy, Looking Around and Nature Trail trade test tapes!   ;)

I wonder.  I know all of these that come under the ME. LP label were recorded in mono, whereas those under MES. LP are in stereo.  And yet, I have mp3 versions of many tracks from the ME. LP titles, (plus a few in lossless thanks to compilation CDs), that are in stereo.  Obviously, the stereo versions existed at the time of release, but where do they come from?

I think sometimes there were stereo versions available  on tape, by request.  Could they have been recorded?

I suspect when the TCC were putting the trade test tapes together that they had access to the stereo master tape recordings, (which were stereo), whereas the original LP, being from the late 60's - early 70's era, (when stereo wasn't the default standard that it would become), they decided to play it safe and transfer the tracks onto vinyl in mono, to allow a more universal use.  If that is the case, then we may never get hold of lossless versions in stereo unless they become available.

Thank you yet again Retro. I know I've said it before but Mozart Edition is my favourite library as so many test cards were sourced from it. And with your help my ME collection is growing by the day.

Thanks once again go to Retronic for providing us with these gems.

Not all these albums contribute to trade test tapes, but they do provide many tracks akin to those played on the test card, which is never a bad thing!   ;)

MES LP 069 and ME LP 018 do provide one track a piece for Positron, though.

Retronic continues to come up with the goods!   :D

This time, MES. LP 102 helps with tracks from both Looking Around and One Of A Crowd.

Thanks again for the time and effort to bring these to us!

No worries.  It’s been quite relaxing editing these while off work.

Big thanks again Retro for these albums.  Just to put this into perspective, as an example, MESLP 103 was provided previously (sorry can't remember who provided the rip).  I've attached two versions of it.  First one in MP3 and second in lossless.  Now whilst I appreciate there is an argument of what format is better, listen to the overall difference in a new rip.  The first one sounds awful.  It's not down to it being an MP3, it was just a poor rip.  The point is, with Retronic's fresh rips, those that have awful copies of previous rips can quickly replace with a fresh rip.  Again, many thanks.

Original rip provided by ??? some time back:-

I checked one of these against my own older rip and I have dropped the volume on these but it’s easily to amplify them back up.  I was recording them more loudly before but I think they sounded slightly off in louder places.  These have probs let never been played and have also been cleaned so it’s a good chance to digitise them.
