Thanks for this album Retronic, but I couldn't help but notice this is a mono recording.  The existing mp3s I have are stereo.  Is this due to there being 2 different versions of the same album, of which you have the mono version?

Strange. If the original were stereo I would have thought the catalogue number would include an “S” - MESLP. Also it’s number 21 in the Mozart Edition series so more likely to be mono. In my collection the S doesn’t appear in the cat no until 71 Club Latino. Though I haven’t listened to them on headphones yet to establish which are stereo.

Just checked the Mozart Edition website (editionuk.co.uk) and the S isn't introduced in the cat no until number 67. Could it be that the recording was made in stereo but the LP release was in mono? In which case perhaps your copy, John, is from a remastered version or something like that?
I have no idea, to be honest, the source of the mp3s I have, which are part of the Apron Strings trade test tape.  But, they're definitely in stereo.  I wasn't aware the, 'S', on Mozart Edition albums indicated them as being in stereo.  I assume the tracks I have came from this album, but if they're all in mono we can only assume they're from elsewhere.  Maybe a later compilation album?

Both do feature on this compilation

Without having a copy to listen to, though, we won't know for sure.

I didn't doubt you for a minute! But you're absolutely right the corresponding tracks on the Apron Strings mp3 that I downloaded from MB21 (no longer available) are in good, clear stereo. So, as I suspected, the LP was probably released in mono though the original recordings were in stereo. Mind you it's what one would expect from German sourced tracks in the 60s. The question is where did the stereo versions on the Apron Strings tape originally come from.................? Sorry, not much help.

Oh and regarding the S in the cat no, I'm guessing the same convention was used by De Wolfe - DWLP as against DWSLP.

I'd have to check- the label doesn't state one way or the other.  I don't think I've ever recorded anything mono before (ie, by accident)
It seems all is in order, your end.  The album in question is indeed, in mono.  But, stereo versions of certain tracks are out there, apparently.

It's nice to have the album anyway!

Thanks for the effort and willingness to check, regardless.   ;)

A couple of tracks from this LP were released in stereo on the Raphaele label in West Germany, which is a good source for stereo versions of ME tracks which only came out in mono over here.

John_Fred, Tracks 2 (A Memory, A Melody) and 7 (All Alone) appear on the Mozart Edition Selected Recordings Vol 1 and 2 CDs and are in stereo. I can share both CDs in lossless if it helps.

No need, mate, I've already got those.  Thanks for the offer, though.   ;)
