Chappell Library Catalog Book For Sale on eBay

I found this floating around eBay, a Chappell 78 rpm catalog, with 78s from C.101 to C.731. The price is expensive, unfortunately.

Other libraries had books, but they are extremely hard to come by on eBay, and some haven't been archived yet. I own a Major Records Sound Effects and FDH Mood Music catalog, though the latter is shorter because this was released possibly in the early 50's, when FDH only had like over 100 78s in their library (NOTE: It also includes some 12 inch 78s FDH had made up to FDH 1207.). Here are some other examples I found on listing archives:

I'm not sure if every label had one. Some may or may not have books, but I don't know what libraries have no catalog. I guess smaller libraries have no catalog.

Yes, check out that Brull! I have some catalogues with 10”s in- not sure if they’re 78’s though.

What's tragic is that I have easy access to professional scanners here on my side of the pond (I scan books often in high quality PDF), but I also don't have any library catalogs

I have mixed feelings about them.

I’d personally like to find the recording dates and personnel on the various tracks or any sort of background information.

But most of the time, it really is just a long list of titles and catalog numbers which is of some use, but not exactly what I’m looking for.

Sometimes they don’t even list the composer or have a copyright date to help date the discs.

Just checked my Chappell 78 catalogue - it's the same cover, and also dated 1962, but must be from later in the year as it goes up to C.804. Happy to plug any gaps if necessary!

It's complete from C.101 but the numerical list omits the following discs:

C.106
C.143
C.202
C.222
C.223
C.229
C.252
C.271
C.272

- All of these are also missing from Mr's discography in the Labels section, bar 106. I think this one was re-recorded and commercially released having been used in a film, so that may have been withdrawn very early. The others, who knows?

I'd be happy to have them scanned and PDFd in principle, but I think the problem is that they tend to be bound like books - they couldn't be pressed flat on a scanner without destroying the spine. That and the dangers of entrusting them to the UK Post Office.

That said, my complete Chappell catalogue (C.313 onwards, c.1973) is loose leaf in a ring binder - if you want to collect that from the Midlands and do your magic then you're very welcome!

EDIT: Wait, are you in the States or UK? I'm the latter...

Sorry to keep doing this to you, but I don't suppose you've got a Conroy catalogue that includes the 78 era (BM 101-499), do you? As ever, I'm after the Drama / Mystery / Space sections!
