KPM CDs

Hello!

After replacing some of my 128 kBit/s MP3s from KPM1000 Vinyl series done (with some overlapping with the CD releases), I wonder if anyone has KPM CDs. I know that CDs aren't as embraced amongst you guys and collectors here, but before I'd set up a list of my 128 kBit/s CD KPMs that I'd like to upgrade, I'd ask if there is anyone even able to share them in the first place.

I have a passing interest in them, although, unlike my 1000 series collection, they're far from complete and contain many mp3 versions.  No prizes for guessing how I obtained those!

I'd take everything from 192 kBit/s onward. As stated in the other thread, it's not only the pure bitrate, it's also that friggin 2-decade old FhG codec that drives me nuts

you are such a great help to all the collectors out there. It's not just me who registered here, all these silent, anonymous people that profit from this forum or our very conversation here are glad about literally any file. When I downloaded the archives and saw 400 MByte I didn't expect those 3 albums to be FLAC. That is just awesome!

I think not having everything available makes "collecting" a hobby. It also adds value to existing stock if you can't just go at some centralized place and grab everything. The "hunt" makes it so nice and when I am tired of hunting down tracks, I sit down and listen to my existing stock, watching the cover arts and try to immerse into the themes of those tracks and the era they came from.. a VCR commercial (Zenith VCR promotional videos for example use KPM tracks in 1986).

So each and every file, heck every artwork that I can upgrade makes it a good day for me. The "expected bitrate" is 128 kBit/s I guess, so we are on "par" in that matter. That is alright - after all, I have those tracks, and I can enjoy them whenever I want, but who doesn't want to enjoy it the best way possible?

I also think that someone and somewhere, those CD are now what Vinlys are these times - rare. It's just not as interesting to have basically media still in use (CDs are still commonly used in forms of BluRay for example). But when the years pass, they might be more widely available. And then I will be there.

I seem to have a problem being able to download those links.  The download rate is abysmal and they invariably time-out after a while.  I spent most of yesterday trying to download them and didn't manage to get a single one.  Being in WAV, I'd imagine the files sizes are 400Mb+   I don't suppose someone, (who's managed to download them), is willing to put them up again as zips using a file sharing website?  Converting them to FLAC would also help.  I can't think of any other way of getting them, otherwise.

I just had one time-out.. Sometimes, re-downloading might help a crawling download. The speed varied from 100 to 450 KByte/s for each attempt. The file sizes are in the 700s for each.

I wish so much I could help you out in return here, John_Fred, but my upload rate is ridicuously slow here. I live in a so-called industry nation - Germany - but as soon as you drive 15km away from a town you get down to "mailman would be faster". I can download fine, but upload is about 250 KByte/s. And the whole package above is about 15 GByte, so that is not possible. I plan moving into said city which has a big node/backbone going on, so I hope I can give something back when I have uploads in the double-digit MBit/s. But right now, mailing DVDs would be faster. . .

I don't know what's going on with these links.  I can only assume it's something to do with the APM website, as my internet connection works fine.  I'm able to download elsewhere and watch video on Youtube, etc. with no issues whatsoever.  But trying to download any of those links is pedestrian at best.  The best I got was 56Mb on one file, which took HOURS, before it eventually timed-out.  Needless to say, I gave up in the end, which is why I suggested if anyone who did manage to download them successfully, could upload them as a zip to a file share site, where I can download them.

It may be a browser issue. I was having severe problems downloading from racaty and pixeldrain, but pixeldrain sorted itself out somehow, and I got racaty files to download by going over to Firefox. My usual browser is Slimjet, which is a Chrome-based browser. I don't know why Slimjet will not download from racaty, but Firefox does the job. Or it may be your Internet provider.

Seems using a different browser did the trick.  Why it should make a difference is a bit of a mystery, really, but I'm not complaining.  I kept thinking it might have something to do with my locale as to why I was unable to download from the APM website, what with some of them being a bit finicky with regard to regions, and so on.  I was thinking I might need to get myself a VPN, but apparently not.  Oh well, all's well that ends well.  I've just got to download them all, now.

Once again, many thanks for these ChunYinZi. More gaps in my KPM collection filled or albums upgraded. I've had no problem downloading though they are slow. And I found it best to download a few at a time since the more you try to download so the rate reduces on each file risking a time-out. But true WAV quality. What's not to like!
