Unknown vocal track from "The Mighty Peking Man" soundtrack
« on: February 21, 2020, 09:45:06 AM »
I saw the movie "The Mighty Peking Man" yesterday and there was a memorable song with the lyrics "Could it be I'm in, could it be I'm in love?"

The artist and label displayed at the beginning of the video are clearly fake.
Here's a playlist of other songs used in the movie - including several tracks from De Wolfe library: hxxps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE2fq328jOK8uRobJGZLOgr_cwPY0IGt2
Any clues about the main song?
Reminds me a lot of The Stylistics, they also used the Electric Sitar on several tracks.

That's a really nice tune inspired by The Stylistics and Van McCoy. I'm going to bet the bank that this is an unreleased original tune for the film and not library music. Reason i'm sure of this is because you can clearly hear in the back vocal that it's an oriental thick accent trying to disguise it as perfect English. Plus it's too well produced to be a vocal library tune.

These Shaw Bros. films were much like the adult films/porns of the era, where the composers of these flicks would go under aliases and also be the music directors of the film. If the budget they were givin was pretty low, they would maybe compose and record 2 or 3 original songs or cues only for the film, and then they would licence library music to fill the rest of the music because they didn't have the budget givin to them to produce an entire score.

My good pal was in both the B-movie and adult flick game back in the 70's and 80's and explained all this to me in the past and how it worked. That said...i'd love to see this tune released from the vaults someday!

Thank you Porn Library for your valuable input!
I assume you're right. After checking the movie again I noticed that there's also an instrumental version of the track playing earlier in the movie. Another sign that it was specifically produced for the movie.
