Cool find! Odd format.
Any photos of the booklet/cover?

So aside from KPM and Bruton (the "premier" labels), were Sonoton and Selected Sound also part of their catalog at that time or later on? And does the brochure mention other labels that used to be licensed by APM, but no longer are? Carlin, I assume, didn't start producing their own stock music catalog until afterwards (and, sadly, moved to Warner/Chappell many years later).

Contrary to Sonoton's site, APM has been distributing the library in the United States since at least... 1988: https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Recording-Engineer/80s/Recording-1988-10.pdf (page 56, 87).
However, in Canada, Sonoton became available from APM only somewhere in March 2003. Before then it was distributed in this country by The Music People Ltd.: http://web.archive.org/web/19990901022757/http://www.musicpeople.net/librari.htm

Carlin, I assume, didn't start producing their own stock music catalog until afterwards (and, sadly, moved to Warner/Chappell many years later).
Originally, Carlin Recorded Music Library was distributed in the United States by TRF Music Library:
https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-BC/BC-1990/BC-1990-04-02.pdf (page 88)
https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Broadcast-Engineering/BE/90s/BE-1991-03.pdf (page 202)

Actaully, I'm not sure when APM took over distribution rights. (TRF still distributed Carlin in 1991, while APM already distributed the label in 1994): https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Billboard/90s/1994/BB-1994-10-08.pdf (page 60)

Totally enjoyed it! I don't know, but somehow the theme played at 8.05' reminded me of the Nyan cat theme... :P ;D
Excellent rip by the way! For a medium so lossy, the quality is more than tolerable!  ;)

Finally getting around to listening to this -- good times. Thanks, Craig!
The opening narration is a bit too much, but a great snapshot of the business in the late 80s.

Craig (or anyone else who might have this) can you take a clearer picture of the APM logo on the packaging? A straight shot of the front, perhaps? I'd like something to use for a cover image.

Cheers!

Here are more pictures I have taken. Hopefully the picture is good enough for you to use stackjackson
http://dl.craig-uk.com/apm/

JimAth - Most (if not all) the tracks playing on this demo are from KPM. The track at 8:05 is "American Odyssey" by Graham Donald Harry Preskett from KPM 1340. Also thanks for the compliment, I simply used a Cassette/CD portable player and a guitar double male lead, one in the headphones and the other in the "Line-In" on the PC, adjusted the sound between the two and recorded.

Kablamatic - The only libraries it mentions are KPM, Bruton, Conroy, Themes International and Shepherds Bush.

Thanks for the photos, Craig! These will work just fine. And the insert info about fees, etc. is also handy.

Hopefully, others can help fill out your ID list... ;)

Side A:

0:34 - 0:55 "Chesapeake Bay" BRH 29

2:46 - 3:13 "Evening News" BRA 4 I'm guessing since I couldn't find it on all the other Bruton BRA albums released before and I'm only able to access the track on APM's website under the album, "Fanfare, Links, Stings 3 (BRCD 15), which was released 5 years after the demo tape was produced.

6:04 is when "Opening Presentation" begins and it's version "D" that's being played (you listed your time markings way off for this side).

The rendition of "Jingle Bells" that plays @ 13:32 might be from the Shepards Bush album, "Christmas Feelings" (SHEP 007) (discogs.com/Alan-Hawkshaw-Christmas-Feelings/release/5324920)

15:44 - "Spring to Life 2" BRJ 23

Side B:

10:04 sounds so familiar I can't place my finger on it. I remember hearing it on APM's website under the Bruton library, but I don't remember what it is.

11:50 - "Olympic Flame (3)" KPM 1220

Thank you Kablamatic. I believe at 6:05 it is still "I'm Ready" playing.

Here's some Library treasure, which I"m sure would have been lost to time had it not been for your upload, Craig.

Background demo recordings are viewed by the general public as being even less sexy than general Production Music, and that's why these cassettes are so valuable, in my opinion.

I realize you probably don't own a scanner. Up until several weeks ago, I also didn't have a scanner. Which is why I'm so grateful to you for the time and trouble you've taken to take these detailed, hi res photos of the accompanying material. From an archival perspective, your photos, and this cassette package upload, is a real find.

Thank you very much Craig, for sharing all this!
