Night of the Living Dead tracklists in order?
« on: September 09, 2026, 01:26:59 PM »
Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever written down a list of all the Capitol tracks in Night of the Living Dead in the order that they're used? There's an entire site with such info for Dawn of the Dead thanks to Retronic and others, but as far as I'm aware there's no such listing for the original film.

There's also the matter of what, if any, cues are unidentified. An older thread in the Track IDs section was bumped back in December to mention that George Hormel's "Weird Action (ZR-49D)" was used in the film, but I have no idea where.

Tracks in bold are not present on the They Won't Stay Dead CD, but do appear on the Waxwork vinyl. And aside from The Music Box, all bolded tracks were either made for the movie or are Hi-Q tracks with additional effects applied (usually lots of echo).

1. SPENCER MOORE  -  Eerie Heavy Echo (L-1204)    -   D-24
2. WILLIAM LOOSE / JACK COOKERLY  -  Night Suspense (JB-33)    -   D-130
3. GEORGE HORMEL  -  Weird Action (ZR-49D)    -   S-18. Heavy reverb added at the end by Karl Hardman. This plays when Barbara and Johnny run into the cemetary ghoul. Listed as "Attacked" on the Waxwork vinyl.
4. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Heavy Agitato (TC-416)    -   D-41. Film's cue sheet lists this as "The Monster Walks", but I have no idea where that title came from originally.
5. WILLIAM LOOSE / JACK COOKERLY  -  Light Suspense (JB-37)    -   D-130
6. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Fateful Fire (TC-151)    -   S-14
7. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Dreary Danger (TC-157)    -   S-14
8. GEORGE HORMEL  -  Weird-Eerie (ZR-87C)    -   D-32
9. Unidentified sting with heavy reverb   -   Plays once Barbara finds a corpse atop a flight of stairs, right after Weird-Eerie ends. Waxwork LP combines it with the cue above and labels it as "Dead Connection / Corpse on the Stairs / Ben Arrives"
10. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Small Disaster (TC-130)    -   S-13
11. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Reserved Disaster (TC-127)    -   S-13
12. IB GLINDEMANN  -  Space Drama (GM-402)    -   D-124
13. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Black Night (TC-155)    -   S-13
14. IB GLINDEMANN  -  Shock Suspense (GM-399)    -   D-123
15. IB GLINDEMANN  -  Mystery Bridge (GM-365)    -   D-127
16. The Music Box   -   The soundtrack releases both have a different version of this track. CD uses a brand new recording of the actual music box in the movie, while the Waxwork one appears to be sourced directly from the film's music and effect stems.
17. IB GLINDEMANN  -  Mystery Hour (GM-371)    -   D-128
18. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Curious Danger (TC-158)    -   S-14
19. PHILIP GREEN  -  Dramatic-Eerie Main Title (PG-190)    -   D-47
20. GEORGE HORMEL  -  Mysterioso (ZR-8)    -   D-33
21. SPENCER MOORE  -  Heavy Dramatic-Bridge (LM-2H)    -   D-58
22. GEORGE HORMEL  -  Mysterioso (ZR-68)    -   D-35
23. IB GLINDEMANN  -  Emotional Bridge (GM-419)    -   D-112
24. SPENCER MOORE  -  Somber Emotional (L-33)    -   D-12
25. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Punch Disaster (TC-132)    -   S-13
26. SPENCER MOORE  -  Space-to-Shock Bridge (LM-1J)   -   D-57. Soundtrack combines this and the next two cues into a single track titled "Attack at the Window (Medley)".
27. IB GLINDEMANN  -  Shock / Stormy (GM-178)    -   D-134
28. PHILIP GREEN  -  Dramatic Swirl to Sting (PG-261)    -   D-126
29. SPENCER MOORE  -  Glissando (LM-1G)    -   D-57
30. IB GLINDEMANN  -  Weird Suspense (GM-264)    -   D-132
31. GEORGE HORMEL  -  Mysterioso (ZR-65)    -   D-35
32. GEORGE HORMEL  -  Mysterioso (ZR-9)    -   D-33
33. JACK MEAKIN  -  "Serene Heart" Emotional (TC-306)    -   D-42
34. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Tension (TC-402)    -   D-41
35. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Sting (TC-344)   -   S-11. Combined with the cue below on the soundtrack.
36. WILLIAM LOOSE / JOHN SEELY  -  Sting (TC-329)   -   S-11. Combined with the cue above on the soundtrack.
37. WILLIAM LOOSE / JACK COOKERLY  -  Fire (JB-28)   -   D-130
38. GEORGE HORMEL  -  Chase (ZR-62)   -   D-31
39. HARRY BLUESTONE / EMIL CADKIN  -  Heavy Dramatic (CB-16B)   -   D-13
40. Feeding Frenzy   -   Electronic effects made by Karl Hardman.
41. Unidentified sting with heavy reverb?   -   Listed as "Lights Out" on the Waxwork vinyl. I'm almost positive this is from a Hi-Q reel.
42. HARRY BLUESTONE / EMIL CADKIN  -  Heavy Dramatic (CB-54)   -   D-13
43. HARRY BLUESTONE / EMIL CADKIN  -  Heavy Dramatic (CB-15A)   -   D-13
44. Helen's Death
45. HARRY BLUESTONE / EMIL CADKIN  -  Heavy Dramatic (CB-15B)   -   D-13
46. Cellar Nightmare   -   Electronic effects made by Karl Hardman.
47. SPENCER MOORE  -  Eerie Heavy Echo (L-1216)   -   D-24
48. SPENCER MOORE  -  Eerie Heavy Echo (L-1214)   -   D-24
49. Unidentified sting with heavy reverb and electronic drone   -   Plays after the previous cue ends. Combined with Eerie Heavy Echo (L-1214) and listed as "Bonfire" on the Waxwork vinyl. Possibly a heavily modified version of the intro to Eerie Heavy Echo (L-1203), also from D-24.

Afaik, that's everything.

Many thanks for the list!

Listening to this, I think this could be a portion of another Hormel cue, possibly another from S-17/18, which to my knowledge is one of the Capitol S reels without any copies circulating online.

I updated my post in the Track ID section asking for help in identifying the remaining three cues (#9, 41, and 49 on the list above).  Hopefully someone's able to find 'em!
