'Looks Good, Feels Good 1' BBC Trade Test Tape 1991-92
« on: April 10, 2026, 02:56:37 AM »
I am sending this out for a much more specific request than I had a while back, for Funtastik CDs. See, while cleaning out my hard drive, I found an audio of LGFG1, from an old cwilliams video that, due to his channel being deleted, can no longer be recreated. Given the rarity of this now, I feel almost obliged to reconstruct LGFG1. However, I do not wish to just post the same LQ upload he did - no, not at all. I'd rather upload the tape in HQ! Which now leads us to our main problem...

I don't know the identities of more than half of the tracks! I'm hoping someone here has some sort of supplementary info, that can lead me in the right direction, because what I've had before is just what Shazam finds. Not the most helpful with library themes, as I'm sure is a surprise to nobody. That all being said, here is the full tracklist of the tape, with all the tracks I already know the de-Gibbs-ified names of included.

1 - Looks Good, Feels Good/Made in Sax - Patchwork 86 "Made in Sax"
2 - Love Junkie/Stiff Vamp - Continental HL-5003 “Don’t Be Stupid”
3 - Artistic License/Tear Drops - Continental HL-5003 “Don’t Be Stupid”
4 - Jasper
5 - Imagination Free/Estate - Ariston BGM/001 “Italian Hits (Instrumental)
6 - Two By Two/Chiedimi L’Impossible - Ariston BGM/001 “Italian  Hits (Instrumental)
7 - Tennessee Twosome
8 - Skyline
9 - Sweet Revenge/Stormy Spring - Continental HL-5003 "Don't Be Stupid"
10 - Two Divine/Bella Italiano - A. Patrick (?)
11 - New Mexico
12 - Manhattan Moon/Slow Love - Disques Deesee 179 "Sam & Sally"
13 - Legacy to Love
14 - Brass Rass
15 - Sunrise Canyon/San Diego - Patchwork 91 “Modern Wave”
16 - Fancy Foot Work/Back to Bop - Continental HL-5008 "Flashing"
17 - Take The Train
18 - Awakening

If anybody has any info, it would be, again, much appreciated!

P.S. when I have the time, I'll make a "WIP" version of this, with all the tracks I can find recovered to HQ state

4/10/26 - Some leads:
I can say with some confidence that the composer for Track 4 "Jasper" and Track 8 "Skyline" is one and the same - similar piano and the like says that for me. I think track 16 "Fancy Foot Work" could be the same, too, but I'm not as certain there. It is a similar orchestration to Jasper. Track 18 "Awakening" could be off an as-of-yet un-ripped Ariston program? Or Track 8 "Skyline"?

I also think tracks 7 "Tennessee Twosome", Track 11 "New Mexico", and Track 14 "Brass Rass" could share a composer, for their guitar usage.

Sources to look in:
Ariston - we know they frequented Ariston to some extent, because tracks from LGFG2 are Ariston-based as well. So, I'd assume that there is some further usage there. Someone did rip a bunch of the programs onto YT, so I'll be taking a look there.
Patchwork - For the same reasons as Ariston. That is to say, they were used in LGFG1, I think some tracks that were put in for LGFG2 were Patchwork, too. I don't think as many programs have been uploaded, or at the very least, it's not organized.

I will report back at some point, with information about my findings, at least from Ariston.

4/11 - WIP TAPE
This is the tape, as it stands, with 8/18 HQ tracks. I haven't touched Two Divine, because... I really don't have a reason, I just haven't. As with all other tapes I have uploaded, this is THE FULL TAPE! Refer to the tracklist for information on the contents of the tape itself.

If you have any clue as to the orgin of any of the other tracks, please reach out, and help this tape become more HQ!

P.S. The lead of Ariston is lost - I have found nothing from the Ariston library to suggest that any further tracks from them were used. Some potential value exists in Patchwork, but that is also diminishing. Track 13 MIGHT be an Ariston track, but there's only the slightest of a hint in my head that this is the case.

UPD 4/13: V2 replaced with V3 - I found Track 16, and it has been restored in its proper location.

4/12 - LEADS DEAD:
Final update for now, it would appear. The lead about something being on Patchwork is dead. I went through every album Universal Music posted, and found nothing. We remain at the following situation, based just off of listening to tracks:
Tracks 4 and 16 seem to share the same composer. Tracks 7, 11, 14, and 17 seem to share the same composer. Tracks 8 and 18 seem to share the same composer. Track 13 could be the same composer, as well.

And before anyone asks, no, I do NOT have the money to join the Test Card Circle. I would've done that years ago if I had the money. If anybody is willing to assist from that group, they are doing that knowing I will not be joining any time soon.

You've probably already seen it but there is a track on YT called Boca Chica from Ariston BRM 015 Temi Per Lo Sport which claims to be from Looks Good, Feels Good but isn't one of the 18 tracks in your WAV file. Would it have been on LGFG2 instead?

Yes, that is exactly the situation. Boca Chica replaced Jasper, tracks 7 and 8 were replaced by Johnny Peters tracks, track 11 was replaced by Special Motors (also off BRM 015), track 16 was replaced with Magic LA off Patchwork 89 "Rock", and there were two new tracks added by the names of Above The Clouds and New Orleans, whereas Take The Train was entirely removed, and Awakening was put onto track 17.

4/13 - MISSING TRACKS
I have decided to create this small mini-comp, for the sole purpose of highlighting any tracks that are currently "missing" - they've been put down to their original speed (most of the tracks, I have noted about a 2% speed increase, which is small, but enough to up-tune the pitch of all the tracks. This was not an addition by cwilliams1976, this was on the original tape, as it persists into LGFG2). As a reminder, the tracks will be in the following order, on the link.

4 - Jasper
7 - Tennessee Twosome
8 - Skyline
11 - New Mexico
13 - Legacy to Love
14 - Brass Rass
17 - Take The Train
18 - Awakening

...and yes, I did find track 16. That's the last Himiko Kikuchi track, and it means that Track 4 is a separate composer. Upon listening to the track... idk how it could've been Himiko those horns are more Moments Music.

As always... if you have info, share it!
