BGM Day 2026!!!
« on: February 09, 2026, 12:11:20 PM »
Hello everyone!
To me, this might be the most special day of the year!
Let me explain.
A year ago TODAY, I found my love for Library Music and BGM, through a Youtube channel known as 竹蔵.
They posted sample/preview videos of Teichiku BGM and the Roland MusicBase library.
I don't know... there was something about the video and the music...
It MOVED ME.
I loved it from the start.
I got introduced to Japanese music libraries and BGM through Lostwave, an online community with this huge reddit page where they research about lost music, and unidentifiable songs without artist names. Fuzzy Drift by C. Adamo from Multi Use BGM Library Vol. 25 was the song that hit me the most. I could picture scenes with this music. Everytime I hear that song, I visualize the same scene in my mind. It automates me to that. Other songs in this series, the Teichiku BGM Library remind me of other aesthetics: the airport near by me, a low quality animation of a man serving drinks at a bar, 9/11 but it never happened, walking around the music department of my old school when half of the lights are off, a neon red light in Japanese writing illuminating the evening cityscape, all this strange ephemera.
And, I love it.
So, I've deemed this day as "BGM Day".
This library has followed me for a year now, and I'm so glad it was the Teichiku BGM Library. Those sample videos have since been privated by the creator, but I'm working on getting them back.
Anyways, in honor of this day and this BGM Library, I wanted to create something for everyone to celebrate about.
I'm going to let you all have five different rare Japanese music library albums. Some new, some old, and some even without a date.
I hope you all enjoy!

#1
 - Sound Bank, Four Seasons '96 Spring (1996) -

I haven't really explored this album yet. I have so much interests in BGM libraries, that it's hard to keep up with listening.
I got this from a friend, and the scan and WAV quality is pretty good.

#2 + 3
 - White BGM, Summer 1 and Summer 2 (possibly 2014?) -

This is a weird set... The album set is also titled "The four seasons" but all they did was make two different summer based albums. Anyhow, they're both rock/fusion albums and the audio production is a little off. For some reason the songs don't sound very well mastered. I promise this is not because of the audio files themselves, because this is how they came. I guess White BGM doesn't know how to mix their own recordings. I think they're good songs though. You can use AI to enhance the images, that's also how they came. These albums also come in CDs. I wonder if the song quality is any different, or the recordings were just messy in the first place. BWP asked me to change the files to mp3, so that's what I did.
Here's the link!
This includes both albums.

 - Roland Professional Music Library, SL-011 - Love Affair -

This album is pretty ancient in the Japanese Music Library world. Also, it's super rare. The release date is unknown. That's how rare it is. Originally released by Roland Professional Music Library (yes, that Roland you're thinking of), it's quite a diverse album. In Roland Professional Music Library / C MUSIC there are album codes.
The AL series is the biggest, and most of it is on streaming services now. There is also the SL series, which this is. It's never been released on streaming services, and hard to find. I think there's an artist series, but I don't know. And don't forget my personal favorite: special release series like OHCO, MusicBase, and EDCD!
Anyways, thank Chun YinZi for this one. He originally posted It here, the link doesn't work, so he gave me the updated version.
For your pleasure, I have updated the song titles to what they actually are, and not just the song code. Keep in mind, I translated them to English.

 - Teichiku BGM Library, Multi Use BGM Library Volume 1 (1990) -

Probably the part you've been waiting for!
Let me say it, while this album is pretty cooky and has some strange songs, I absolutely love it.
In some way, I love how the first song is called Return from space, as this is the first song on the first album, it feels so in place.
I don't really have much else to say about this album, it's just good. I like it. In the future, I surely will upload more from this library, but I really hope all of you like this one. I kind of told you everything about this library from the start, so I don't need to go on this for much longer.
The files are in m4a, but were originally in WAV. They didn't lose much quality, but I completely understand if you'd like the WAV version instead. Please message me.
Another huge thanks to Chun YinZi for this fantastic album. Me and a friend bought this album from him.
Please realize once again I have changed the Japanese song titles into English.
My favorite song is either It's You Who Starts Running or Koi No Tekan. What's yours?

So everyone, that's it!
I hope you like these ones!
I'm going to try to do this every year.
Have a great rest of BGM Day!!

Happy Olympics Season!

Thank you very much for your share! It looks like a labor of love :)

I promise you, it is indeed because of the audio files themselves. The rest of your share looks okay to me, and even the .m4a files look better than most mp3s do in a spectrum analyzer! Unfortunately, the Summer 1 and 2 albums are very transcoded. Judging from the spectrals as viewed in Adobe Audition, the source for these files couldn't have been any better than 96kbps mp3 files. You can see this very clearly because there is no audio information above 15kHz. A 128kbps mp3 has a lowpass cutoff filter of 16kHz, so it's obviously not even as good as a 128 mp3.

Yeah... I know.
The audio files for those have never been the best quality. I thought it was worth a share though.

Perhaps if you are aware of the issue, it might be better to convert down to mp3 before sharing, no? I get that you know it's bad, but this will get downloaded from here and shared out elsewhere on other platforms without this information and that's how fake FLACS get spread around, exactly like this.  I suggest you take those flacs down and reupload mp3s.

Ok, so just the Summer 1 and 2, or all of them mp3?

The rest were fine, just summer 1 and 2 were bad

In fact, the sound quality of White Bgm is dependent on the album

Some albums have a normal spectrum, but some don't.

I don't know if it's a mixing problem, Of course, these are just the officially available electronic versions of the albums

If it's a CD, I don't think there's any problem.

If it's a CD, a 15 kHz lowpass cutoff filter is a very big problem in my personal opinion.

I got the files from Chun YinZi's friend, who only gets the audio files from music libraries.
There is a CD for each, correct, but I think these are just the audio files and not from the CD.

Would you mind testing my GRML-0014 post?
