UMS - Ultra Music Services - Catalogue shots
« on: July 12, 2025, 10:07:33 AM »
Someone asked for the these - hope they're of use to people!

"Ultra Music Services was a library label based in Hollywood, California. It was founded in 1967 as a West Coast division of Emil Ascher, Inc. and Regent Recorded Music, Inc., after the company acquired the distribution rights to the works of William Loose and Emil Cadkin. Rights were formerly contracted to Capitol Records under its Hi-"Q" Series and Production Music Series sub-labels. Ultra Music Services includes music from three libraries produced by Loose and Cadkin: Public Music Service (PMS), OK and PM."

Thank you! This will help me with my music ID projects!

Also, I've just noticed that two weeks ago, archive.org user "associate-angelfaith-mangubat" has uploaded screenshots of labels for UMS Vol. 4 Nos. 13 - 16 with a box above the tracklist saying:

This item is available with audio samples only

However, there are no audio samples to be displayed for each album's page. Do you have to be a member of the Internet Archive to hear the audio samples of the album or would you have to contact the user asking for them? I'd love to hear the first six tracks of 4-PMS-14 (as they are absent from my download of Carlin CPM 5) as well as all of 4-PMS-15 and 4-PMS-16!

Here's the label scans for each record:

archive.org/details/lp_production-music-series-volume-4-reco_william-loose-emil-cadkin_0/mode/1up (No. 13)
archive.org/details/lp_production-music-series-volume-4-reco_william-loose-emil-cadkin_2 (No. 14)
archive.org/details/lp_production-music-series-volume-4-reco_william-loose-emil-cadkin (No. 15)
archive.org/details/lp_production-music-series-volume-4-reco_william-loose-emil-cadkin_1 (No. 16)

Maybe leave a comment. These tracks deserve to be heard.

One thing regarding these UMS cues I've become curious about is if the track names for these cuts were the original names for these Loose/Cadkin tracks, but were renamed by Capitol for whatever reason - they strike me as more original and interesting at times than the rather mundane descriptive names found on the Capitol PMS series like Melodic #10 and what have you.
