Chappell library requests – The Prisoner TV series
« on: May 10, 2019, 12:19:49 PM »
Greetings!

I've bought a vast amount of The Prisoner CDs (and LPs) in my days: the Silva Screens CDs, the Bam-Caruso LP, the first Network 3 CD set, the privately issued Chappell 3 CD set, and now the latest 6 CD set put out by Network a couple of years ago, thinking "This is it... This must FINALLY be the most COMPLETE and BEST-SOUNDING version of this music!" – only to be let down once again.

This is 2019 after all, and there is still no definite collection of the library cues and the original music recorded for this classic TV series, so I guess I'll have to do it myself – hopefully with help from the friendly people of this great forum!

There have been an amazing amount of high-quality shares of various Chappell titles here. Huge thanks once again! I might have missed some Chappell uploads here and there, but I'm trying to track down better versions of the following recordings. I've mostly used the original 10" catalogue numbers, but corresponding LPC series reissues are just as welcome.

Any help at all finding these tracks (or the complete albums they're from) or pointing me in the right direction is most appreciated! Many of the tracks below are completely smothered in intrusive noise reduction on the various CDs I have.  :'(

My plan is to share the compilation here later on when it is finished. Everyone contributing in any way will of course be credited! Thanks in advance!  :D

So the 6xCD set isn't everything?
Do you have a complete cue list?
I have loads of LPCs so will check these later tonight.

Wonderful, thanks a lot in advance, Retro! There are a few cues missing from the latest Network set. There is a 17 disc fan-made compilation here, but it uses an inferior source (the old Network 3 CD set) for all of the original score and several of the more elusive Chappell tracks are poor sounding mp3 transcodes.

95 % of the music in the above list is actually in the latest Network 6 CD set, but it's smothered in noise reduction. Some of it sounds decent, some terrible... My intention and hope is to collect everything in one place in the best available sound quality. I just noticed that Paul Bonneau's "Stac-Flat" is in excellent stereo on TCR107, but in mono on Network's set, so stuff like that is something I'd like to upgrade as well.

The above list was written down by me using the Network 6 CD booklet. I could expand it and write it all down but it might take a while...  :)

I love a project like this- good luck.  I have the following on vinyl and somewhere I have the other LPC's as rips but not sure where or in what quality.  Also those white Chappell LPs also comp a lot of the same tracks.  There may be some on those.  Also BIENVENUE MISTER JONES is on a Jack Arel comp I have on CD.

I'd also like to add a request for the wonderful 'Rag March' from 'Fall Out' in stereo - it's only ever been released in mono on CD, which is a shame as it's one of my favourites.

I think I have 'Smiles And Chuckles' on shellac - I may have some of the others on LPCs, but I think the sound quality may be better on the original 78s.  Not sure if I have any of these, but I'll have a look.

Is there really a stereo version of TCR 107? Both my copies are mono.

That stereo version of TCR 107 was generously shared by [(Sub)] back in December 2018. The original thread is here but the link seems to be down. I can re-up it for you if you'd like?

"Rag March" is indeed a real gem! Would love to hear it in stereo some day... If you ever find the time to have a look for any of the recordings in the list above, I'd really appreciate it!  :)
