ID'ing Ad Music
« on: May 08, 2025, 01:29:17 PM »
Hello

This is a 30 second clip I found on an advert DAT tape with no description. It had the raw music track then three versions of the ad with dialogue over the top

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PEyBPpN3jIj8V061okHRDGFyg-5i4hWy/view?usp=sharing

Does anybody recognise it?

Thanks

Not me, sorry!

I ran this through the fingerprinter and got two false matches: "Cyclic Squash" [#30] by Rob Miller (No Boyfriend Music) and "Hypnosis" by Olivier Renoir (Koka Media). I repeat, both of these answers are *incorrect*.

Often times agencies will commission music tracks specifically for advertisments even though it sounds like library.

Hopefully you will accept this response and forgive us instead of not getting a reply at all (which happens to roughly 30% of all posts in the Track IDs section, though to me it feels more like 90%).

No worries, thanks for your help

What do you normally use for fingerprinting? Shazam and Aha Music don't normally work for some of the No Boyfriend Music ones that I put through it

Thanks

Most if not all of us here at LMT recommend the Audio Fingerprinter by Mitin1001, which runs on Python.

Here are some links to help you get started:

Quick install guide: https://librarymusicthemes.com/index.php?topic=7213.0

Databases: https://www.musrc.com/fingerprints/ and https://s3.amazonaws.com/writecomments.com/librarymusicthemes/index.html

Changing the fingerprinter's strength from "2" to "5" (requires a hex editor): https://librarymusicthemes.com/index.php?topic=7771.msg54448

I'm also aware of Shazam's shortcomings. I've tried using Audio Fingerprinter in the past but I have to say so far I've failed to get it working on my Mac. Instructions on GitHub, while well-intentioned, haven't helped. So if anyone has any idiot-proof instructions I'd be more than happy to receive them in a PM.
