[FDH Mood Music] - FDH 112
« on: February 28, 2025, 06:16:26 AM »
Here's a 78 from FDH that I had in my collection for a while now. This is one of the last few FDH 78s with L'Orchestre Devereaux on it, before switching to Erich Borschel and the New Century Orchestra. I kinda wished they kept L'Orchestre Devereaux, as they sound much better than Borschel's orchestra, which is downsized and not as rich sounding compared to L'Orchestre Devereaux, alongside Sidney Torch's New Century Orchestra as well. Anyways, this 78 contains two light movement cues, with one being composed by organist Bobby Pagan, and the other being co-written by Bob Sharples and Cyril Stapleton under Robert Early and Clyde Hamilton respectively. Enjoy! =)

I think I've said it before but I am always impressed with the extent of your knowledge and research into music more from my era than yours. Thanks WSBG.

According to those Mood Music releases I have found on the Internet Archive the final one featuring L'Orchestre Devereaux was FDH 121. I agree that theirs was a better sounding performance to subsequent records by the New Century Orchestra. It was the Georges Devereaux version (FDH 072) of the John Malcolm piece Non Stop (rather than the KPM release) which was played daily back in the 50s and 60s to introduce the UK's daily news bulletins from ITN  on ITV. The KPM version added annoying repeated cymbal hits during the melody.
