December 2nd - Tranotis' the Season
« on: December 02, 2018, 03:27:54 PM »

I hope everyone is having a pleasant Sunday so far!

Moving right on from yesterday's organs... off to space!
In honour of the fantastic NRE thread, here's my rip of the much-wanted "Cosmo... uomo", which I believe was Rino De Filippi's very last LP of new material before he passed away in 1993. Works on the LP are both by De Filippi (here under alias "Tranotis") and Mauro Quattrina. Quattrina was not only a composer, but also a documentary director, and I'd guess this was probably the soundtrack accompanying one of those.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks for the share Mr.
I now understand your "so so" opinion on this late work by Rino, if I recall correct.

Thank you so much, Mr.
A new NRE is a joy. It is a long awaited record for me.
Not bad at all, with melodic tracks I enjoy a lot.

Thank you, Mr! Really nice to hear this NRE, crackles and all.

I think that I agree with you - it's nice, but not one I'd return to often. I'll admit, the Quattrina tracks did nothing for me, but the Tranotis ones I do like ("Civilta millenarie" is my favorite - a lovely, meditative piece.)

This makes me want to revisit C'era una volta..., another fine work by Tranotis in the same style as the pieces on here. Meanwhile, I'm totally in love with the leftfield electronics of Giuochi computerizzati, a total oddball with a brilliant side A by de Filippi, and side B featuring the antique stylings of Tranotis against the same electronic backdrop. It's an album I personally believe everyone should hear at least once...

Thanks again, Mr, for bringing forth this final entry from the maestro de Filippi!!

"Giuochi Computerizzati" it's a real oddball, as you say Tez.
And I add it's an oddball even in it's title. "Giuochi" is a kind of outdated word, almost archaic. It would be "Giochi" (games) as we say now. That way is a very very old way to say it, and it became almost a joke with time.
Personally, I think they decided that title to oppose a very modern concept (computers) to a very old one (the way of spelling giochi/games)

By the way, I should clarify here that I was told by my friend that Tranotis is in fact a duo, from his research:

"Tranotis: Library music duo of Sergio Crippa and Oronzo De Filippi, playing a mixture of light/ambient synthesizer music and Mediterranean flavoured instrumentals."

Can anyone verify that Tranotis included Crippa?

P.S. Thanks for the info about that title, Greta! I took Italian a while ago in school, and thought that the spelling seemed a bit idiosyncratic.
