A chain-post, starting with this Conroy.
BMLP 167 - Brassbound Background

Etienne Cap & Co. with many of these tracks also released on Studio One:

'Mama Elephant' found it's way onto this great CD from the 90's: The Sound Gallery: Volume 2'
:

The CD also included this classic; ripped here from a nice vintage (bit sctratchy and noisy) 10" from de Wolfe.

Also on Sound Gallery 2, 'Up to Date' is so familiar to anyone who grew up in 1970's Britain.  It was adopted as the theme to 'Man About the House', which spawned a couple of successful sequels and stateside remakes -'Three's Company' & 'The Ropers'.  Such a great tune!

'George & Mildred' had two different theme tunes, I believe both composed for the show.  The initial Hawksworth version is more popular than the latter Roger Webb one.

'Left Bank Two', 'Up to Date' and Hawksworths 'George & Mildred' theme are all on the Top Dog CD.

Here's 'Up to Date' in it's original format (again a bit vintage)

Ena Baga's De Wolfe cover of 'George & Mildred' is coming soon!

Great presentation, Retro!
Not growing up in the UK, I don't have nostalgia for the "George & Mildred" theme. I have to admit that I prefer the Roger Webb version ;)

Come on in Killa and join us; grab a prawn cocktail and a boozy home made mince pie; chat to fellow librarians or grab a space on the spacious leather sofa, put your feet up and listen to the music.

You might want to enjoy the peace as there is a cacophony of electronic sounds beaming it's way to you.  I am on a ripping frenzy today and I suspect this Electro 12 will need to be split into two parts.  Not enough hours in the day.  Why do we have to go to work anyway??  (to be able to buy expensive records, that's why).

Cheesy volovant, anyone?

Thank you very much for this enjoyable thread, Retronic.
You reminded me of my favourite series of that era. The best English humour ever. And such beautiful themes!
