Musrc is down
« on: June 20, 2026, 06:56:00 PM »

Welp
I’m not sure really what to say about it but Retromatic’s website, Musrc now has an expired domain and he has not renewed it
Which is really quite strange, because sometimes I see he updates his site and the last update was a few days ago. So it’s not like he abandoned the site. Maybe he will renew the domain, and perhaps he’s working on it now, but the site has become worthless anyway.
I don’t want a huge controversial debate on this thread, I’m just letting everyone know this :)

I saw that too.

Sad news, didn't you hear the news? It means that Retromatic gave up paying for renewing the domain! But I'm not sure. Has he been into financial trouble, or something even worse? 🤔

Also, I'm not sure if this website was shutted down temporarily, or worse, Retromatic shutted down his personal website permanently. Any idea why? Please let me know because I had no idea why! 😅

I think it just started the other day, so perhaps he just forgot about the expiration and is working on it now. Or maybe he's had enough of the website, and doesn't want to bother renewing the domain.
It frustrates me because there was a lot of stuff on there I could've loved to have.

Yeah, me too! But I am not so sure if he decided that he had enough with his website that was driving him crazy, and can't forget the drama he has been going through, or if he does something like normal like nothing bad ever happened, but forgot about the expiration and decided to work on it now to renew it. But yeah, I agree! I really really wanted those albums that I've been looking forward to get my hands on.

The guy hasn't been on here or posted for some time.  Maybe something has happened in his life that has taken him away from the passion he once had.  Just leave him be.  If he returns, he returns.  If he doesn't remember him for what he did and what he provided for the community.  Remember you are posting on LMT which has nothing to do with what he does on a personal level.  He hasn't promoted his website for some time and presumably has come to an end.

From a personal level, my love for library has waned slightly. Now, that doesn't mean I'm done with it, but things happen in life.  I suspect things will pick up for me later in the year.  With my life in motorsport, it's chaos at the moment and things won't die down until the end of the year so my active days here on LMT are more in the winter but I still look on this place with great fondness even in the summer months where it's a few mins a week.

The other thing to bear in mind is personal finances.  Running a website, purchasing vinyl or cd's has become over the last 20 years or so incredibly expensive.  A certain auction site I frequented has been over-run by those that want maximum £££ or $$$ etc.  Times are hard and people move on.  I'm incredibly fortunate to have been in there early and provided a ton of my personal music or those that upgraded my tiresome MP3's to FLAC when hard drive space became cheaper but lets not forget that all of this takes time an money.  Again, Retromatic may not be in a good place financially.   I personally haven't been in touch with him for months, so I'd say leave him be.  IF he posts here on LMT and says he's financially in a spot of bother and requests help with a 'fund me' page or similar, those interested will support him.  If not, his shares will become a thing of the past.  What's important here is again, remember him for what he gave up his time and hard earnt money for.

Take care all !

Thank you Tony. I agree totally with your sentiment.

I must admit I did heave a sigh of despair at seeing this topic start up. I think it is in poor taste to be discussing a forum member in this way. Can we please now stop discussing Retromatic and his website. It's becoming very boring.

Ok, I apologize for making this post.
But I think it may be a good thing the website is gone now and possibly forever; it will stop temptations of wanting things we cannot get.
For example, the other day I went on Musrc to see what sound bank CDs Retromatic has, but now that I can't check again, it will help me appreciate the things I have, and maybe I'll forget about him like he all seems us to want to do.

Yep, I've been wanting the albums I've listed for a couple of weeks now, but it's a good thing that I have some albums I got my hands on. Hopefully the website might come back or possibly not, but we'll see, someday or possibly never.

I am forever indebted to Retromatic for sharing the rip of the albums I've been wanting for so long. Thanks, Retromatic, for the rips you've shared to us for the past few months. May you come back sooner or later sometimes. And I am so sorry for spamming you. Maybe I'll forget about him for a while or so, but we'll see. Only time will tell, I hope. :)
