The Masaya Uechi Dilemma

It's time we bring up a person only a few people into music libraries currently despise, but which more should know about and try to stop the issue instead of making it worse.

Masaya Uechi.

If you don't know the name, it's a person who is credited for creating many bootleg CDs of library music from Japan (and sometimes U.S.), and putting ocean/nature sounds over it.

Except, this past Friday, Masaya Uechi released close to 12 new albums on Apple Music, and I'm not happy with it.

Ever since library music in Japan really started in the 90s, Masaya Uechi and his team have been at it making and selling CDs of their versions.

These CDs are meant for healing music, although I am positive they won't do much, since it's just all library music from the 90s and early 00s.

What makes me even more angry about this situation is that on YouTube, people are crediting Masaya Uechi for songs Nash Music Library, C MUSIC, and even Sound Factory made.

And I know DL Music (who is in charge of Sound Factory these days) is not happy about that.

They have a page on their website in which they have listed all of the songs Masaya Uechi has stolen from them.

One of my favorite songs from the entire C MUSIC Library titled "Rio De Jannnnnneiro?" was discredited and put under Masaya's name from a Youtuber who was looking for the song.

I want to help them, I want to tell them it's not their fault but the credit is very wrong. Because Masaya Uechi is stealing this music.

We've seen a similar situation like this before: Jincheng Zhang, a Chinese guy who steals music from the YouTube Copyright Free Audio Library, which is available to all YouTube creators. From what I've found, he seems to mess with the metadata in his music or the algorithm of Shazam and other music recognizing tools to get the Audio Library's music to show up as his, in which it is obviously not. But people have fallen for this, and it is very important we stop them from thinking he made all of the music. What makes it even worse, is that every comment someone leaves leaking how bad he really is, is deleted by Zhang himself.

Although I would love to see Masaya Uechi's collection of CDs and rip some of them, I know what they're doing isn't right.

What do you guys think about this? I realize they had a lawsuit on their hands, but did it work, because they are still releasing music.

The song is originally from Sound Factory's album, SOUND STAFF Vol. 16. Masaya Uechi has added ocean sounds and most likely poorly looped a section of the song to make it longer. The title has changed too.

We need to stop what Masaya Uechi is doing. It's not right. This situation needs to be discussed in more publicity.
If you simply search up "Masaya Uechi", you can find a few other people who looked for their music and uploaded it.

There's a guy in the ebay world who enthusiasts call Legs Man. He gets old record players and vintage turntables and affixes table legs to them and sells them as a new item for a significant markup. Much to the angry chagrin of standard vintage HiFi equipment collectors. I'm getting the same sort of energy from your description here.

BTW, I went looking on my favorite torrent site and I think I found one of his albums there    Is this one?

Hm, interesting. People like that really seem to annoy me. Like they think we don't know what they're doing.

Yes, that is one of Masaya Uechi's albums. Me and my friend have gone through one of Uechi's albums and figured out where each song comes from. To some extent, it is a good way to find new interesting music and give yourself the mystery of finding the actual music, but it is still bad what he is doing. I might consider myself to want that album you found just because I want to uncover what music is actually being played. While we were searching, we even found a few songs Masaya Uechi stole from a Netherland music library, Dennis Music, which I found quite interesting.

The album covers seem to use the same symbol/logo in each cover, although the newer albums vary. I wonder what it means, perhaps it's a healing symbol?

It's like finding the origins of tracks on "Archive" albums, but this is Illegal.

And they also steal tracks from Dennis Music? it would be funny if he ends up stealing a track from that label that was used in Spongebob.
