Just found this in my collection.

Not lossless, but still worth checking out.

Enjoy!

If anyone has a lossless copy, feel free to post it.  :)

Happy Weekend - MM

Crime Jazz • Season One

Collection of Television themes from the Golden Age of British action/crime TV, the 1960's & 1970's.
Anyone out there not from the UK may not be familiar with a lot of these themes but don't let that put you off, this is a treasure trove of great music. It's a shame that a lot of the composers working in television don't get the recognition they deserve, there is a unique art in writing music able to set the mood & feel in a couple of minutes worth of music.

Thank you for the interesting looking compilation. It's unfortunate that even these 320kbps mp3 files are all transcoded also. I really don't know why people do that.

Pretty sure it was a fan made compilation from a blogspot page in 2007. I can't find a lossless copy of this compilation and I doubt one exists unless someone tracks down all the songs themselves and compiles anew.

Yes these were compiled by bloggers THXJay and (occasionally) Licorice Pizza. They featured on the excellent Crime Lounge site which closed down in 2014 though the site is still accessible. Unsurprisingly most if not all of the links are dead. There were two "seasons". This one of 17 volumes and a second of 10 volumes. My copies of season 1 volumes date back to October 2008 so it's no surprise they were in MP3 format. Equally I suspect the transcoding from 128 to 320kbps was done in all innocence in the belief that doing so would improve the audio quality. Those were the days!
