Man, the DW/LP 3267 is stellar. They're real field recordings! Stuff like this usually only appears on specialised labels (Ocora, Bärenreiter, Albatros, Nonesuch, etc).

Turns out that I've had this for ages as MP3 and never gave it attention. But that lossy rip has perfect photos of cover and labels. I've scaled them down to a reasonable size, and here they are.

I remember I bought that Africa directly from De Wolfe in the 90's.  I was hoping that the Dawn of The Dead Ammo store track was going to be on it and was disappointed when I heard it.  Thinking back I could have got some of the rarer classics from them at the time but had no knowledge of what was good.  The guy I spoke to told me an Italian label was putting a compilation together and using a track called 'Hot Heels' so I did buy 'Vocal Shades and Tones' for £18, unused and it went on to be on the brilliant Sound Book comp.

Haha! I can imagine. I'm an aficionado of field recordings, so was delighted. Listening to Vocal Shades & Tones now, and I'm loving its '60s vibes.

PS I want a time machine to the '90s. When you could just walk in to all these fabulous library labels and buy their records like in a shop. Or perhaps it was mail order, but that's almost as good. A dream.

Yes looks it- these were recorded years ago mostly and I didn't check them other than a quick glance and saw lots of tracks .

Many thanks Retro. DWSLP 3356 Ena Baga At The Compton Organ Of The Leicester Square Odeon is probably the worst library record I've had the pleasure to listen to! I can't imagine why De Wolfe would have commissioned this in 1977 - and in stereo! I know 1977 seems back in the dark ages but I can assure our younger members this sort of organ music was not typical of what we were listening to at the time. It's more appropriate to the first half of the sixties.

Mind you, you did warn us that there were some duffers amongst those DWs that we were missing. This certainly takes the crown!

I dig the organ lol. Ena Baga also did one or two of those silent movie type library records for De Wolfe (at least DWSLP 3332 The Silent Film Era No 3, which contains quite a banger in Cockney Rebel), so I don't think this one was meant to depict anything close to a contemporary sound so much as provide source audio if someone wanted to perhaps create a simulated retro scene.
