Music for Dancefloors: The KPM Music Library (2013):

first one i pulled off the shelf is the biggest, and most recent. it's a 2-LP compilation of kpm, Themes and others. i got this for christmas at the time mostly for 'Funky Express' as i couldn't afford the original kpm record. i think it's a good collection of tracks but half of it isn't really my taste. starts off strong with three great tracks. 'That's What Friends Are For (vocal version)', then possibly my favourite in 'Unlimited Love', and then 'Funky Express'. i wish there there were a couple other disco tracks on here but it's really just the one. the real clunkers on here for me are the latin and reggae tracks. and outside of 'Crash Course' the whole d-side is a pass for me. i completely forgot that this thing comes with CDs too. the one disc is live versions from a jazz club. while it was fun to listen to once i doubt i'd ever listen to those again.

if i could afford some of the original records i'd probably sell this now. but considering this'll be the only physical way of playing my two favourite tracks on here i'll be putting it back on the shelf.

verdict: KEEP!

Oh my god I love that album!!
I have actually had the first song on it on repeat this whole year for some reason! Such a good album.

Selected Sound - Romantic Moods (1980):

this is one that i've liked a lot more with time. blind bought this back in the day after seeing Zbigniew Gorny on the track listing, and the Lucky Simon name. with a name like romantic moods i wasn't expecting much in the way of uptempo stuff, and you don't really get any haha. 'Melancholy' towards the end is the closet thing in that aspect. the rest is mostly slow grooves. and i must say my favourite track is the Gorny one, 'Francoise'. would have fit well on Funky Eyes or Match-Ball. in the past i've been inclined to let this go, but i'm glad i still held onto it. not my favourite, but anything the polish guys do is hard to get rid of. and my ears just love to listen to that signature sound.

verdict: KEEP!
