...I am also very proud to present, for the first time ever on LMT, this high-quality record of psychedelic funk/jazz music from an obscure and great composer and arranger hailing from Mississippi.

The story with this one goes that Fischer was visiting the Basque country of Spain and was commissioned by a local label to create modern music based on arrangements of traditional Basque folk tunes, with the objective being to get these records played in dance clubs around the country, to let local youth reconnect with their heritage. How successful this was, I cannot say, but Fischer did manage to create a real gem of a record, after flying back to New York City and quickly putting together a band for his arrangements, then finally adding the proverbial icing on the cake with electronic overdubs he performed on the legendary Moog modular synthesizer!

Listen and be amazed! Or at the very least, feel your body will itself to dance as you take this fabulous trip back through time. This FLAC share comes from the (official) web stream release of the album from 2021.

This is nice, and the historical context makes it all the more interesting:

… let local youth reconnect with their heritage… LOL!!

I love those candid social experiments from our parents' generation

Thank you, Tez!

Thanks for your comment! Well, judging by the words of a guy I met who helped research this (and lives over in Basque country), the impact at the time was virtually nil. Still, a grand experiment, no?  ;D

Thanks for this!

I've also had this Fischer soundtrack on my SoulSeek wishlist for a while now, with zero (lossless) hits. If anyone has it, I'd appreciate if you could post it!
