That's the only version I'm aware of. Has this already been found?

Don M Yowp

Well, I've got it. There are several industrial film cues on it and one used in the Huckleberry Hound Show. I don't know where or when I got it.

I heard there exists a rip of S-19/S-20, but from what I understand, it's only been shared privately.

Quote from: Certainly1080 on October 21, 2026, 07:57:39 PMAfaik, these are the Hi-Q reels that aren't circulating anywhere thru anyone's rips. If there's anything wrong or missing, let me know!
I'm sure I'm not the only one to find the cataloguing and attribution of the Hi-Q Series to be mystifying. Some reels have duplicate catalogue numbers but different contents and the "code" for composers doesn't always seem to match their initials. I've been through your D Series list and found 26 reels that I appear to have in lossy and lossless. But I find it hard to believe that I have so many of the reels you seem to be missing. After all I've just picked these up from various sources along the way. Before I go to the trouble of uploading them all perhaps you could confirm that, for example, the D-51/D-52 reels you're missing are the ones attributed to composer Sten Clift (SF2040-SF2054). If not I'd be more than happy to be educated further.

I don't think the codes were meant to signify the writer's initials. ZR, for example, refers to Zephyr Records, which was Geordie Hormel's company. I don't know why some where picked.
Capitol only had rights to certain cues for a certain period and eventually had to replace them with different composers; the Cadkin-Bluestone CD cues come to mind.
At this point, the ones I hope turn up some day are the original MR cues by Raoul Kraushaar in the L series as they contain pretty much the last cartoon cues I can identify that don't have. There are some Lund cues from the X series I hope surface some day.

I thought the Cadkin-Bluestone cues were replaced because they weren't oficially licensed.

Thanks Don. It's slowly beginning to make sense after all these years! And hence Phil Green is EM from EMI Photoplay I presume? Though his work also appears with his PG initials I see. I must re-visit your website to try to glean more. It's thanks to your website a few years back that I found cues to Big Brave Bear, a Yogi Bear cartoon, that had been haunting me for decades.

The D-51/D-52 I've uploaded is the version with Sten Clift's cues from 1969. Perhaps it's just speculation on my part, but there's likely an earlier version, say late 50s or so, with different cues that eventually got replaced. To clarify, I've noticed a pattern with particular batches being issued during a specific year in order (for the most part). AFAIK, this is how the reels should be grouped if the pattern is correct:

D-1 to D-24 = 1956
D-25 to D-40 = 1957
D-41 to D-80 = 1958
D-81? to D-116? = 1958 to 1959. The earliest reel in this range with a confirmed 1959 date is the MR version of D-107/D-108. Latest known 1959 release appears to be D-115/D-116.
D-117? to D-126? = 1959 to 1960. Not enough data to be sure, unfortunately. D-125/D-126 is the most recent reel with a confirmed 1960 date.
D-127? to D-136 = 1961 to 1964. Only confirmed D reel for 1961 that we know of is D-129/D-130. 1964 seems to be where this range ends with D-135/D-136.

My guess is if you see anything in these ranges with a release date that comes after the listed year, it could very well have been a replacement reel (ie - potentially all the Ib Glindemann releases or "UP" Phil Green cues between D-95 and D-104). There isn't necessarily a specific timeframe for these as they were issued anywhere from 1957 all the way to 1970 with D-119/D-120.
Again, this is just an educated guess. I could be wrong and Capitol just released stuff without worrying too much about the numbering system. Getting an older Hi-Q catalog would be extremely helpful in finding out whether or not this any of this is indeed the case. Unfortunately, mine's from the late 60s or early 70s, long after some stuff had already been discontinued.

I've never heard that, and find it difficult to believe a company like Capitol would press and release material that wasn't cleared by its legal department. But anything's possible, I guess.

Yes, those are EMI Photoplay cues. I've never found a reason some of his work when transferred to Hi-Q is labelled PG and some is EM because I think they were all originally recorded for EMI.
The blog was started solely to match the music with the scenes of the cartoons; I was doing it on another site in 2008. Back then, the information was not out there, and the music could not be found on-line. It was only through someone's generosity that I got it.
The cue sheets for all the cartoons exist; I only have a handful that were copied by Earl Kress from the Hanna-Barbera "archives." Earl kicked himself that he didn't copy more of them. And he lost a list of the names of the Shaindlin cues he located.
