BBC LR News Bed
« on: February 21, 2025, 02:42:31 PM »
I posted this track recently but in the wrong section. Hoping someone might be able to ID it or point me in the right direction.

I'm certain I've chanced upon this before either on a Bruton or Match CD but I never made a note of it at the time thinking I'd remember. I'm beginning to think I dreamt it.

The example below is a dub of a mono cart. The bad edit at the end is mine, just to remove a v/o.

Not the most thrilling of tracks but it's one I'd like to ID if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm sure that I've heard the track before, though I have no idea on the source. I've gone through some of the Match library from '87 to'94 and no sign there.
Most Universal Production tracks are fingerprinted , the exception being tracks that haven't been digitised, so some Chappell, vinyl Atmosphere. The BBC was also keen on Sonoton, again another library that's usually good at metadata.

Thanks, appreciate your help redwave. Chappell is a good call. Not been through the early discs yet so it could be on one of those. Went through some Sonoton last week but only the discs I thought it might be on so will certainly try the rest. Good opportunity to go through some stuff I've not heard in a while too. I'm sure I'll find it eventually. Thanks again.

I'm sure it will turn up somewhere. I'll keep searching , let me know if you discover the source.

Thanks, really appreciate it. I tried the blue Chappell AV discs last night but nothing on there unfortunately. Will keep you updated if I find it.

I’ve gone through some Amphonic  and Cavendish from the mid 80s to early 90s but nothing so far. BBC local radio used a lot of Cavendish and it’s got a that sound. I also went through some Atmosphere albums however, I don’t recall local radio receiving these releases.

Of the few BBC LR gram libraries I've been in (30+ years ago) I only recall one with a limited number of vinyl atmosphere but never the CD's. Lots of Bruton (BRB series) Chappell, Intersound (spots) and KPM. BBC Merseyside had a fair amount of Standard which I never saw elsewhere. You're right about Cavendish though so will explore those further.
I also remember seeing lots of Canadian Airforce CD's but doubt it will be on any of those as it does sound very British/German.
