François De Roubaix - Zita OST
« on: February 17, 2023, 08:42:52 PM »
Sharing my copy of the Zita OST from one of my favorite composers, François De Roubaix.

This is recorded from my (admittedly non-perfect) copy on vinyl. It does have a few clicks/pops, but overall listenable. I've not de-clicked it or anything along these lines. I may be the weirdo in this regard, but I actually like the inherent noise of vinyl (within reason, of course).

My favorite track is probably 2 - Loin (the first of several with the same title). The Miniland tracks are fun too (tracks 7 & 16). Roubaix always has an interesting mix of instrumentation and themes.

There is a small skip about :30 sec in on track 11 - I can't seem to fix this with cleaning or adjusting tracking... sorry about this :( weirdly, it is on beat but a clear skip. There is another at the tail end of track 14 too.

This is from 1969. Dusty Groove has a nice write up: "A beautiful soundtrack to this obscure erotic love film from the late 60's! Fracois De Roubaix did the score, and we're in love with the music on this one. It's sort of spare, sexy, atmospheric batch of tracks – with a bit of an instrumental Serge Gainsbourg feel to it. Electric bass rumbles underneath, electric harpsichord notes tinkle over the top, and the LP slides effortlessly from track to track. A real gem, and one of our favorite sexy soundtracks!"

Discogs notes that this album was electronically re-recorded to simulate stereo

The cover scans are not my own - I found them online. How do you all scan LP covers? My scanner is too wimpy and LPs won't fit.
Enjoy!

Thank you so much collageinstereo!
I was missing this one!
I have been a big fan of François de Roubaix since the animated puppet broadcast Chapi Chapo which I used to watch in the late 70s.
Even if my favorites remain the scores he composed for the José Giovanni's movies, "la scoumoune", "le rapace" or "Dernier domicile connu"

This very nice comp came out last year but I'm sure you already know!

Awesome - I didn't know about that comp! Looks great. While not exclusive to Roubaix, I do have this French comp which has some great stuff too:

It's a nice box set with a small booklet. I'll get around to ripping it at some point, let me know if interested.

I have something quite similar. It's a series of 3 individual cds with the same name.
I think it's on the same label. It would be awesome if you could rip that longbox indeed!

If you like François de Roubaix, you should listen to "Fred Pallem et le Sacre du Tympan" a French jazzman highly influenced by de Roubaix.
He even dedicated a tribute album to him back in 2015.
I recommend the album "SoundTrax"!

Excellent soundtrack, and your rip is super crisp. Love those Joanna Shimkus vocals.
