I'd say this RTV had never been shared before! Thank you very much for ripping this elusive italian library.  :D

This is an absolute news to our panorama here.
Thanks so much winter, I'm always thrilled when I see some Italian new stuff popping up!

Please Winter, don't take this the wrong way, but I thought you're intereted to know if the rip is good or not, as it's your first one.
Assuming that I'm not an expert in techical settings, I just express here what I hear and see.

The main issue for me is that you probably extracted and recorded the music at too high volume and the result is the higher peaks in dB are cutted off. I paste here an image as an example:

I then don't understand why the higher frequencies of the spectrogram don't go over the 21kHz, as you extracted the files at 16-96.

The last thing is that there is a constant background noise probably due to some cable or connector problem, I really don't know.

I think (and hope) that all these things are someway solvable by adjusting software and hardware settings. Some fellow members and rippers here can throw you a hand if you just want.

This isn't a complaint, just a very humble assessment of the rip, since, as I said before, I understood you were interested in knowing how it turned out.
If not, forget everything I wrote, and I'm still happy to be able to listen to a new album thanks to you.
G.

this is 1 of 4 RTV i bought and i used it as practice, i asked chatGPT for the settings in Audacity and will try another one see if it's better, and it'll be great if anyone could give me suggetions of the settings, but first of all i think i should change a new needle and clean the record...( although i assume the records should be cleaned before they were sold)

This sounds like a very interesting album. Thanks for taking the trouble to share it with us winter2014. However, as Greta has kindly pointed out the frequency range appears to be clipped at around 20kHz not unlike a lossy file. I'm not quite sure how chatGPT suggested you rip these tracks but clearly it hasn't got much of a clue. Personally I don't feel it necessary to rip vinyl at as high a rate as 96kHz. All it does is produce overly large files without changing the quality of the audio.

The settings I use when recording with Audacity are to set the Project Rate (Hz) [bottom left corner] to 48000. Then once the album is recorded you can split the recording into individual tracks by inserting a Label [Ctrl-B] at a second or so before each point where a track starts and Save using the Export Multiple option. In the next dialog box you can select the format you want to save the files in. I suggest Format=FLAC Files; Level=8 (best) and Bit depth=16 bit. Some members here prefer a bit depth of 24 bits but personally I consider that overkill unless you're going to be making a large number of edits to the files later on. After all these are rips from a vinyl source so are by nature limited in their audio quality.

I'd avoid attempting to filter out pops and crackles at this stage. Whilst it is possible the records may have been cleaned (though there's no guarantee of this) when you receive them the age of most of these albums means it's inevitable that there will be some surface noise. And, again, many members here prefer a rip which is pure and closer to the original rather than one which has been heavily processed.

I hope this helps and wish you luck with your next rips. By all means PM me if you need any further help.
