Question: Most used libraries in your country

Hello Everyone!

I am curious to know which music libraries are the most commonly used in different countries. So, if you wouldn't mind sharing, which music libraries are the most popular libraries in your country? Do you think their popularity is caused by the quality of the music, the cheapness and convenience of using them instead of other more expensive libraries or something else?

The most used libraries in my country, for example, are: Sound Ideas, Backtraxx I and II, Freeplay Music. I think that the reason TV and radio stations here prefer them so much is because they offer great value for the money and the tracks are of good quality (at least in my opinion).

Currently, the most used label in Brazil is Freeplay Music. But, during the 60's until the 2000's, the most used label was Valentino.

Other companies that had high use in Brazil are these:

Before Poland adopted the then-new copyright law in May 1994, Polish TV could use commercial music as frequently as library music. Nevertheless, Sonoton was at theme the library most frequently used on Polish TV, along with Coloursound (mainly the music from Polish composers) and Hibou Music. TVP2 also used in years 1992-1997 the tracks from that mysterious library which were also sub-licensed by Cascom (the company whose Select Effects were used by the channel) and ended up on Firstcom's Novelty Edge series in mid-1990s.

After the adoption of the copyright law, it became impossible to use any piece of music without appropriate license. Therefore, to continue using library music, Polish companies have to license them from companies like Paris Music or Sound-Pol.

Since then, the frequently used music libraries in Poland are:
- Arcadia Music (became less frequently used in early 2000s)
- Atmosphere
- Audio Network (frequently used since late 2000s)
- Carlin Production Music / CPM Music (was frequently used before the Polish rights to catalog shifted from Paris Music to Schubert Music Library in January 2014)

- Primrose Music
- Selected Sound
- Sonoton

In my country, Mexico;  the most used were: Ole Georg Music, Network Music Ensemble, Sound Ideas, Parry Music, Focus Music, Music House, KPM and Megatrax.  They were widely used in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and from the year 2000 they have gradually been discontinued, so today they are hardly used anywhere.  Now television, radio, film and streaming use their own compositions.

In Vietnam mostly used music from Sonoton, Freeplay Music, Sound Ideas, Warner-Chappell, Audio Network, Digital Juice and more. Some big TV stations may also have some composer made music for the station.

I checked Hibou Music after I read your post and turns out, many TV stations in my country use this library in news shows and magazines.

After going through a few categories of this library I noticed that almost every TV station here used a track from it at least once these past few years.

The library is definitely nice, I really like some of the tracks!

For modern times I have no idea as I haven't looked at anything current on TV since the early 90's other than commercials. But back in the day on TV in 70's and 80's here in the US there was lots of use of Peer/Southern, Valentino and Soper Sound.

Occasionally you would hear KPM, Sonoton and Bruton which was made available through Southern here in the US (they were the US middle man so to speak for the non-US libraries to be used over here).

As Porn Library, I also have no idea about the modern times, but back in the day I think in Italy Fonit was the one.
With all its branches such as Golfinger, Usignolo, International, and most of all Nuovo Repertorio Editoriale.
Probably because of their tight relation with RAI, the state TV, the one and only TV channels available here in Italy till the mid 70's. And always very strong despite the advent of small private TVs in the beginning, and the colossus of Italian private TV, Mediaset, later.

From my mind, some music libraries were used in Indonesia (my homeland) such as: Valentino, Sound Ideas, Freeplay Music, Killer Tracks, Megatrax, Digital Juice (such as BackTraxx, BackTraxx 2, StackTraxx, and so on), Dimension SFX/Music Library (27th Dimension), Ole Georg Music (formerly Capitol Production Music) - (in which i didn't know that these 2 music libraries such as Dimension SFX/Music Library (27th Dimension) and Ole Georg Music (formerly Capitol Production Music) was also used in Indonesia (my homeland)), etc.

Here in Sweden are the most common labels Atmosphere, Match Music, Bruton, KPM, Extreme Music, Koka Media, Sonoton and Epidemic Sound.

Epidemic Sound is today the most used library, probably because it's based in Sweden.

They were widely used in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and from the year 2000 they have gradually been discontinued, so today they are hardly used anywhere.  Now television, radio, film and streaming use their own compositions.

In my country it's quite the opposite, discontinued libraries are still used in many broadcasts and it seems like the broadcasters here will continue to use them as long as they can.

They probably do this because it's cheaper to just rip a CD into the computer and use the tracks, than to license every single track they plan on using from the more modern music libraries.

I really like that they still use the old libraries and I hope they will continue to use them as long as possible.
