Alan Shearer - Dark Is The Colour (1985)
« on: February 06, 2018, 04:55:58 AM »
This is a personal favorite of mine and one that's circulated in a few compilations and several different sites including Youtube uploads. The almost goth sleeve it has had me interested immediately. Any kind of background info on Mr. Shearer or the album itself is very welcome.

I love how it puts a bit of a moody, eerie nocturnal-cop-show twist to the 80s synthpop sound, especially with the rhodes-ish tones on songs like Only For One Girl and Chronomaster. What do you think?

I also admire his slightly rarer 3rd album Mines De Son (apparently means 'mines of his' in French); somewhat quirky and more varied than Dark Is The Colour, almost reminescent of 90s videogame scores to me. There's even an epic track called 'Siouxie Likes Me', which may or may not be a misspell of Siouxsie Sioux.
