DWLP 3509 - Backing Tracks Vol. 02 (1983)
« on: October 13, 2022, 06:28:06 AM »
I am gradually working my way through an old hard drive trying to weed out the MP3 rips disguised as FLAC files. Unfortunately it seems the case with the version I have of this LP:

DWLP 3509 - Backing Tracks Vol. 02 (1983)

Does anybody have it as a lossless?

Thank you guys.

Hey both, wondering what tool you use to check the encoding, bit rate etc… and the soundwave quality of your files? Thank you.

Hey dude,

I am on Windows. Checking the basics can be done just by right-clicking and going to properties obviously. However, the way I tell is by loading it up in iZotope RX10. In this program, you can clearly see whether the file was once an MP3. As far as I know, there is no way of finding out an exact history of a file and what it has been through, and what it has been converted with, encoding history, etc, but I see all the information I need to make a judgment in RX10. To be honest, after being a mastering and mix engineer for over 35 years, I can hear it in the file lol. I am not sure if that is good or bad.

RX10 is a professional and very expensive software.
If you want a free one there are a couple of options.
1-Spek - a simple spectrum analyser and it does just what you need. For Win-Mac-Linus, here: h--p://spek.cc/
2-Audacity - it does much more. Great tool and free. For Win-Mac-Linus, here: h--ps://www.audacityteam.org/download/

Great suggestion Greta, Audacity is exactly what I suggest to my mixing and mastering students for editing work.
