[CHAPPELL] CLP714, CLP722, CLP725, SPR40, and SPR41
« on: April 06, 2020, 05:57:12 PM »
I don't know if this is the right place to ask... but as this is a Chappell thread, I'll give it a go. I'm looking for a few specific classical recordings by Chappell, namely CLP714, CLP722, CLP725, SPR40, and SPR41. If anyone has these in FLAC or wav form could you possibly upload them? Thank you.

Those recordings were used by Channel 4 here in the UK, to accompany their test card and Oracle (teletext) pages between 1984 and 1988. The rest of the Chappell recordings have been found, but these ones have so far been elusive. Thank you in advance.

You'll probably have better luck with a separate request -- so I moved your post.

I have a stack of CLPs, including 725. I can try to rip it for you :)
These are surprisingly obscure, despite being by Chappell. A partial listing of these releases can be found here.

SPR would be CBS/April Orchestra, no?

That's great, Mr!

I don't know about April and Chappell having any connection, but on the track listing from Channel 4 it says that on SPR40 (Largo from Xerxes - Handel), the publisher is Chappell and gives the aforementioned disc number, so I'm hoping it's an April LP as you suggest, handled by Chappell as an agent. That will make it easier to trace.

SPR41's offering is Schubert's Ave Maria. Do those match up with what you have? CLP725 is Tchaikovsky's piano concerto No.1 in B flat.

HmXXXXXm, no that's can't be it. I don't know what series of releases "SPR" refers to here, then.

- Tchaikovsky matches up, though.
