A few recent compilations/reissues I've found
« on: February 08, 2018, 04:49:17 AM »
- Glistens, a compilation of Parry Music tracks, made mostly with digital synths:

This one came out just a couple/few months after my first 80s library mix, which happened in October '16, and it actually happens to share the tracks Paul Williams - 'Sunken Cathedral' AND Williams / Grossart - 'Shining Ice'. I really don't know what happened, but I can't say I feel annoyed about it, because they're the sort of rare tracks that I'm just happy to see getting wider exposure. I still wonder if the curators of this saw my own mix though, by any chance, or if it's just coincidence.

It also opens with the strange jingle "Evil At Play", which Aphex Twin himself sampled in the famed "Xtal".

- Cosmic Future Groove Vol. 1 - Spaced Out Disco & Funkified Electronic Themes, a comp from 2010

Don't recall caring for this one much myself, but others may enjoy.

- Reissue of Soul Impressions by Janko Nilovic

For some reason Janko's work doesn't interest my ears much, but he sure is popular with others, thus my inclusion of this.

- Todd Dockstader's 'Electronic' vols 1 and 2

[warning - this page has a horribly bright red backdrop]

- Barry 7's Connectors series

Heard both of these and loved a handful of individual tracks; recommended if you're interested in the Italian library scene, even if I couldn't really get into some of the tracks myself.

I know there's more out there, of course - I may add to this thread later or make some new threads for those once I remember them.

Thanks for these heads-up. Most are very well known, but I didn't know about the Parry one.

Not sure if people are aware but 'Shining Ice' was sampled extensively by The Future Sound Of London on their 1994 album 'Life Forms' - the sample appears on the track entitled 'Flak'.

I'd had the FSOL album for over two decades before I found it was originally a 1986 piece of Library Music.

Kind Regards

Glistens isn't Parry, it is Chappell AV series. I absolutely love Cloud hopping.

But, there is a Parry compilation that is pretty great!

Tomorrow’s Achievements: Parry Music Library 1976-86

doesn't appear to be available for sale anymore, either as digital or vinyl, but I can post. I know we don't post stuff that is newly reissued, but this is no longer available in digital formats. Is it OK if I post?
