A few months back, DylanDylan sent me a copy of this vinyl in the mail. I had transferred/ripped it at that time, but not having the free time I used to in the old days of LMT, I just this past week was finally able to get a little free time in the late night hours off and on to sit down and work on it.

It's a huge improvement from what the actual vinyl sounds like, but with all the surface noise that's within the actual pressing itself on many of the tunes, it was very difficult to work with. So this is not up to my usual standards in vinyl restoration what so ever. But, its the very best possible for what I had to work with.

The results sound a lot better cranking it out on a home stereo system from a burned CD, which id give about an 8 1/2 to 9 quality out of 10 rating. Listening on a computer, headphones or portable device i'd give it about a 6 or 7. You can be the judge. But, short of having the stereo 2 track master tapes or getting hold of that other alternate promo pressing that's supposed to be better, this is probably as good as it can get for now.

What an unexpected surprise! Thank you! :)

P.S. It's Amoco, not Amaco.

FLAC version (including tags & images):

As it seems, this record is rather a compilation of contemporary tracks as opposed to specifically commissioned music. Cut 4 and 6 are taken from Keith Droste's "Big Band Moog". I'd be interested as to the other tracks (at least the contemporary ones)

Ahh I fell into the trap of the "a" instead of "o" like many used to ;D I corrected it...thanks for pointing it out. And thanks for the info on 4 and 6. I'd love to know what the rest are. If they are in fact all commercial release stuff uncredited, the goal will be to hunt them down and do a full on top quality remaster version. And what is the FLAC files? Is that a copy of the "other" pressing that's supposed to be better? Or just a duplicate of my rip/attempted remaster?

No problem, funnily enough the guy writing the "Matrix / Runout" (as called in the Discogs entry) made the same mistake.

Oh no, I just took the liberty of converting the WAV into FLAC and adding the usual tags and cover images, as I would have done anyway for my collection, so why not share it as well.

The wonderful "Lounge Groove" cut sounds very much like library music, so I wonder whether anybody has heard that one outside of this album.

P.S. Mid-'70s groove and cars made me immediately think of this album which I uploaded here as well, check it out:

And this is to my knowledge completely original.

That one I tagged "Lounge Groove" and the last cut "Contemporary Jazz Fusion" are my 2 top picks. I'm wondering if they exist elsewhere...would love to get better copies if they do. I checked out the "Big Band Moog" record listing...and its very possible all this stuff is commissioned/library stuff.

Only because I noticed the Keith Droste record was put out by Realistic (also known as the Radio Shack/Tandy Company), and all of their stuff back in the 70's and 80's, weather it be instrumental arrangements of well known hits or original cuts were special commissioned work 99% of the time. My pal was involved in one of them in 1982. Maybe this Amoco record was drivin by the Tandy company, and that's how the Keith Droste tune ended up on it?

Thanks very much for the 'PL Treatment' in splitting the tracks and restoring this rip.

If and when these tracks are ever identified will be an interesting time because none of the scans I've found share any relevant data for who, what & when  ::)
