Hello again! I present my ten most wanted unknown pre-2000 MotorWeek cues again.
Some are new, others from the last time I posted about this subject with all those mega.nz folders containing dozens of unidentified tracks. But I've decided to just forget about all that and focus on 10 unknown cues I like the most.
Track 1Origin: Episode 611 (1987)
Video: Sorry, can't find one!
Audio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/1hLkNZunz7jTNotes: An
early '80s pop gem most likely from the Capitol's Media Music The Professional library. This was heard in the Plymouth AAA Repair School segment in the episode.
Track 2Origin: Episode 709 (1987)
Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejx6xnyDCFg&t=20sAudio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/19A6Voi4MRmGNotes: This booming
'80s hi-tech piece has a chance of being an obscure mainstream song or film soundtrack instead.
Track 3Origin: Episode 709 (1987) again
Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejx6xnyDCFg&t=65sAudio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/1iVTdMbYQz4hNotes: Sorry, but this segment and music are so good I wanted to find both tracks in it. This
ambient hi-tech piece is much more likely to be library than the other one.
Track 4Origin: Episode 903 (1989)
Video:
https://americanarchive.org/catalog/cpb-aacip-394-37vmczq8?start=1463.73&end=1669.62Audio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/1uf9xqTw1YxvNotes: AirCraft's ACL 002 "Comedy Craft" has similar tracks to this one, but no match. This
old-fashioned jazz sample is now much longer than it was in the old mega.nz folder.
Track 5Origin: Episode 920 (1990)
Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT0j5nxDriY&t=97sAudio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/13j1URl1eGjyNotes: Definitely sounds like a later Capitol Hi-"Q" or early Media Music track to me. Check tracks by Ib Glindemann or his aliases for this particular
light orchestral cue.
Track 6Origin: Episode 1006 (1990)
Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNIN36QW17g&t=24sAudio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/1or4isx8RNzDNotes: Definitely check tracks by Jim Jacobsen or his aliases (particularly James Williamson). This
'80s light pop cue's ocean wave sample was later used in "African Savannah" from OGM Premium 4.
Track 7Origin: Episode 1429 (1995)
Video: Sorry, can't find one!
Audio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/16tiMpX0btUYNotes: One of my shorter unknown cue samples; is this a Kosinus, OGM, or Sound Stage (AVF)
hard rock tune I somehow missed? This was from the episode's
Grand Touring segment about travelling Minnesota via snowmobile.
Track 8Origin: Episode 1542 (1996)
Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMKJyiBKdlY&t=39sAudio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/13PEjcq5etHkNotes: Bother that Kawasaki ZX-7R's noisy engine lol. Portions of this
hard rock track's audio sample are still quite clean though.
Track 9Origin: Episode 1719 (1998)
Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fHziYnL9_Q&t=38sAudio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/12KbfB9eAVhGNotes: This
jazz fusion track appears to be split into three parts. Maybe check the former Promusic labels; I heard two Parry tracks in a different episode from Season 17.
Track 10Origin: Episode 1832 (1999)
Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8-3BbSvfh0&t=21sAudio with vocals removed:
https://voca.ro/18EKCyhMn88GNotes: This
techno track is apparently the fingerprinter's arch nemesis; it gives a false match from
every single PKLZ file! Could be from any former Audio Action or Killer Tracks label from the late '90s. Good luck!
Have fun identifying these everyone, and thanks in advance!
