At least he kept a well organized database of his findings.

It's still possible to view it entirely via the HTML version of the site at the Wayback Machine:

Aye! That's what I didn't notice about this until now. I'll go check it out now.

EDIT: I just found out that his pCloud files are somehow still there.

Does this mean we can download his pCloud links again?
Or did I read that wrong?

Sort of, but it's still password-protected, so we still don't know to this day.

That's unfortunate. I haven't donated/paid for any albums from there since March, and I was really hoping to get more.
Yeah! Me too. I haven't donated/paid for any albums from there since June last year.

Around this time last year, I donated $70 to Retro Matic and asked him to rip some albums from the “Flying Hands Production Music Library” for me. He agreed, but nearly a year has passed, and I haven’t received the ripped files or heard back from him.

Isn’t this a bit unreasonable? If he really doesn’t have time to respond, he should refund the $70 to me.

That's called a scam. That lines up with my opinion of this man 100%. Selling rips in the first place was a scam, now actual money being taken and items not delivered. I've always thought this man was a crook. I was absent for his glory days I suppose, but viewing his activity in hindsight I have no idea why people here talk about him the way they do. Praising this man as if he were a deity. This is a robbery, no exaggeration at all, and somehow no one realizes this.

If I order a product online for delivery as I often do and it doesn't ship within 2 or 3 weeks, I call my bank up and demand a chargeback. Any reasonable person would have long before a full year has passed.

Maybe you dial your accusations back a bit. As you said yourself, you missed the times when a Retromatic post would mean dozens of GBytes of FLAC rips ready to use of whole libraries that you can't just drive-by download from APM or Universal. Going through xx albums would take me several days and all of that was freely available. Funny though, many here (or outside) downloaded them as you can see from all the page views of his threads but nobody shares back. Selfish, huh?

His website being down in the middle of his project is, as said in the previous page, a red flag about his well-being.

He bought these CDs and this can be expensive. Not everyone downloads digital albums with a free account. As much as I am grateful as I am not interested in physical media, there is a difference of rare, physical media being paid, shipped, sorted, tagged, scanned and distributed vs. "Here, I use my KPM login and give you a WAV folder within 3 minutes of work".

I, for myself, got everything I "paid" (donated) for in a timely manner. He even asked me the amount of albums (instead of a fixed price). So he was not greedy. He was not greedy at all, as said, he donated triple-digits of these albums. It's a bit FOMO, but as said before, much stuff here is FOMO and certain users don't respond to requests despite, if you Google LMT, these users don't share them anymore despite happily posting around. That is worse, because at least musrc was open to eventually share them for a small tip.

Maybe you dial your accusations back a bit.

A user above documented how RetroMatic took his 70 dollars and promised a product he didn't deliver.

I am not dialing anything back at all, that is a criminal act. I see it a lot in other areas of the internet. That's the very definition of a scam.

It's like Stockholm Syndrome trying to talk about this around here, seriously.

If it turns out he is deceased or gravely ill/hospitalized, I will eat all the crow I need to. but that's the only thing that excuses behavior like this.

I had wanted to stay out of this but I'm done biting my tongue:

I've been friends/worked with RetroMatic for years, and he has always been one to be helpful and share what he had. For years he's ran Musrc where you could basically download whatever you wanted for free, and he would post most of his stuff here as well.

I said this elsewhere, but here's what's really the issue with people complaining summed up: "I'm mad that the person whose spent thousands of dollars and countless hours collecting stuff & building a site from scratch sharing it for the longest time that I was getting instantly for free without any work on my part isn't doing that anymore". Here's a fun thing, ask these people who are complaining how much they've donated to him over the years for all the content he's shared or how recent. You'll get crickets or 'well I did a little once'. Right.

The entitlement and lack of appreciation is sickening. No one knows what's going on with him, but will instantly turn on him when they aren't getting what they want. And there's a difference of having had contact with Retro and made an agreement for something, and 'donating' money on the site without any prior contact with Retro knowing he's been missing but with the expectation to be given access to everything- which the later is what likely what people are doing.

If I was him and going through things and see crap like this, why the hell I would I want to even deal with it anymore. I know he's been dealing with something for at least since fall of last year where I even haven't even had proper contact with him since, and last I heard things aren't good. I actually give a crap about this person and his well being. Most of you could care less, you just want your precious music. Total lack of decency and humanity.

I'm luckily not one of those guys who thinks that way. Despite me not donating as much as I should've, I still believed in his mission of preserving CDs for the future, even though I didn't really care about that until all the drama that happened a few years back. I kept trying to learn from that mistake (with the occasional free request email here and there, which made him [and myself] think I was still a spammer), but that was when I didn't have any of the money to help him out with. I've fully learned from that mistake now, thankfully!

I hope I'm not being seen as one of those people who disrespect him.
I've never spoken to him, and never bought something off of him.
But the CDs I have gotten from Retromatic; from friends who decided to share them with me, the CDs have been a huge staple in my collection: Sound Maker, Full Spectrum, and Studio Cutz.
I believe he was the first person here to fully have the entire original Studio Cutz set!
And everyday when I listen to those songs, I realize how thankful I am for him.
Even if he's not here with us right now and practically gone from the Internet, I know he's still alive somewhere and I'm glad he was able to share these albums with us when he did. Sure, maybe there have been some mishaps with money and stuff that never got over to the other person but he was willing to share huge collections of rare music with us when he did.
So I still hope he is ok, wherever he may be and I hope he won't forget this hobby of his. And I believe, one day he will come back here. I just hope he doesn't find this place hating on him when he shows up.
