Oh...
If I owned CDs in the future, what could I use to rip them?

Exact Audio Copy is the standard/best choice for ripping CDs on Windows. If you use apple products, XLD (X Lossless Decoder) is the standard product to use.

Q: Do you plan to release a Linux or MAC version of EAC?
A: Sorry, no Linux nor MAC version is planned at all. But it is reported that EAC runs in an emulation layer (WINE for Linux and Virtual PC Win 98 for MAC), so if you own this software have a try.

Yes I read that too. But where’s the sense in having to get an additional app (WINE) to run a simple function like a CD ripper when I already have a perfectly acceptable and equally capable alternative (XLD)? In any case I did give WINE a try some years ago and it messed up my Mac and kept crashing. Or maybe it was just faithfully emulating a Windows PC!

XLD is every last bit as good of a ripper as EAC is. That's why all the super elite secret torrent site accept XLD  ;D
