By the 1950s,
the Bosworth Recorded Music Library had established for itself a well deserved reputation for bright and glamorous light orchestral mood music. Through a combination fo gifted composers, fine orchestras and first class recording studios, a unique Bosworth sound had evolved. This compilation conveys perfectly the optimistic spirit of those post-War years.
(David Ades)
This CD also charts the progress and development of casual dance music, later jazz styles and early pop music. With special thanks to David Ades, Jonathan Benton-Hughes and Bill Knight (Archive Researcher - tel 01 179 668724) for their help in this disc production.

the way out
CLIFF FREEBORN: Electric Guitar, Keyboards and Drum Programming
MARK ANDERSON: Electric & Acoustic Guitars and Keyboards
ALICIA ANDERSON: Bass Guitar & Keyboards
The Way Out first began writing music for TV in 1996, when they were commissioned to compose and perform the theme for the cult BBC2 drama series "This Life".
Like the programme, the theme was instantly successful and is being released commercially by BBC records in June 2000 to coincide with the re-screening of the entire series. The Way Out have created a trademark sound, popular amongst modern programme makers.
The band have gigged extensively with an independent release of songs, many receiving nationwide airplay. Their instrumental music has been used by the BBC, Channel 4, cable and satellite channels, and on sell-through video releases. Recent credits include the children's BBC1 series "Dinosaur Detectives".
Undercurrents & Overtones is an unusual and essential mix of modern eclectic guitar, vintage keyboards and imaginative grooves. From fast and frantic to dark and atmospheric.
Produced by The Way Out.
Recorded at Intergalactic Studios, London.

Acclained composer Mark Thomas is one of Britain's most diverse and prolific, with credits for over 100 scores for Film & TV.
Classically trained, he was a violinist with the London Symphony, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. Here, playing on soundtracks for composers such as James Horner, John Barry and John Williams, he began to sow the seeds for his future success as a film composer.
In the world of TV, he has scored many popular films, drama series and animations including Daisies in December, A Mind to Kill and The Final Passage directed by Sir Peter Hall. Other TV credits include The Science of Stress, an Equinox series primarily for Channel 4 and Aristocrats a series for BBC 1.
It is with feature film that he is perhaps most prolific, and has Mad Cows, Up'n'Under, The Big Tease, Merlin the Return and Dog Soldiers amongst his most notable credits. Other recently completed scores include The Final Curtain starring Peter O'Toole, Re-inventing Eddie{/i], and Doc Martin starring Martin clunes. He also composed the music for the Nescafé Gold Blend advertising campaign.
