(https://s9.postimg.org/am8sqry0f/IMG_1463.jpg)An underrated label in my view.
No.s 3 and 9 have never materialized- do they exist?

Let's start the ball rolling with No. 8.

Cool. Thank you very much, Retronic!
I had no idea Alan Hawkshaw worked at Cavendish. But perhaps I shouldn't be surprised,
he is everywhere among library music. Gotta love the man! 8]
-
Ooooh!
Fantastic upgrade, really enjoying this one
Thanks a lot
-
Having never heard much from this label, I'm a big fan of this idea. Thanks for the great start!
No. 8 has a great 'sound' to it, distinctively British in a way. Sounds like some 'familiar faces' are on here, Alan Parker and Alan Hawkshaw at least.
I don't think I've ever heard that guitar effect on "Wavelength Wizard" used in library before.
No. 3 I've never seen anywhere, but I can confirm No. 9 does exist. On the nature of its absence, to quote Thames (c. 2005):
The master tapes were missing for ages, but an unleadered copy master turned up in the Boosey vaults a while back.
The entire thing, sans the track "When the Sun Comes Out" has been reissued by the great folks at Winchester Hospital Radio:

I also like this idea Retro. It's such a great little series of records!
Thank you.
-
Mr, thank you for reminding me! I have that CD too!
-
I know nos. 2, 6, 7, 8, and 10 have made the rounds, but upgrades are always welcome!
-
No.s 3 and 9 have never materialized- do they exist?
A quick look around reveals this sitting in my soulseek incoming folder.

Not sure if it's the same thing?
Thanks for #8!
-
I have that somewhere. Re-titled Boosey & Hawkes tracks I think.

An underrated label in my view.
No.s 3 and 9 have never materialized- do they exist?
Perhaps there were copyright issues and they had to pull them, as you know not unknown in the library world if the tracks sounded similar ?
Anyhow thanks for the new versions, the prowler is a top track, also done and extended by a minute by Harry Roche on Sometimes for those that don't know it.
Cheers DT

I'm very fond of this one. Used extensively in Prisoner Cell Block H; it was always on the radio or in a bar. I can't hear 'The Lone Tree' without seeing Meg Morris chomping on a bit of toast:
'Come Home Melanie' Episode 007
'I'm Leaving the Door Open' Episodes 019 & 023
'Life is a Loving Feeling' Episode 023
'The Lone Tree' Episodes 026, 044, 465 & 519
'Strangers' Episode 037 & 489
'Never' Episode 099 & 465
'Everybody’s Happy When the Sun Shines' Episode 135
'That's Where I'll Be' Episode 510
Hopefully this is true stereo and closer to how it was meant to be heard. (https://s9.postimg.org/bb52pqjpb/IMG_1471.jpg)

No. 9 is rare so in the meantime here is all, bar one track. The missing track 'When The Sun Comes Out' is available on the Terry Cavendish LP/ CD 'All In an Afternoon's work' if anyone can share that track as a FLAC to complete it?
Thanks to Your Pal Doug for Track 12: Now complete:

Where's No. 3 then???
-
Super, shares Retronic, thank you very much, appreciate it :)
-
Thanks for the latest Cavendish Retro.
As you, I'll wait for the missing track from CAV9, cause I don't have 'All In An Afternoon's Work'
-
I had to dig through boxes in the garage to find the Terry Cavendish record, but I did!
Let me get on it.
-
Triffic, YPD. I’ll rip a couple more tomorrow.

I love 'Song of India'.

Ah, wonderful, thank you! I love the little write-ups on composers on the sleeve, I wish more labels did that. Had no idea Don Lusher was originally a euphoniumist. "Suspect No. 1" has a really nice sort of 'knock-off James Bond-flick' feel to it.
I agree, what a lovely version of "Song of India"! Both are obviously arranged in a much different way than their source pieces, but I still find it odd to see Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Cecil Armstrong Gibbs on here, not to mention Duke Ellington. As I mentioned in the Boosey 78 thread (https://librarymusicthemes.com/index.php?topic=125.0), Boosey & Hawkes were (and are) a very established publisher, who had a large body of published works they held the rights to, and could record or arrange for library usage. As a well-known jazz standard, "Song of India" is one of those rare library cues with its own wikipedia article, hehe - though it's originally an aria from an opera.
-
Thank you Retro.
-
Thank you Retronic
and after this story of "song of india" I need to listen it again
-
Ah, wonderful, thank you! I love the little write-ups on composers on the sleeve, I wish more labels did that...
Agreed. Someone should add this info to discogs... or maybe a thread here ;)
Thanks for no. 1, Retro!
-
Yes, they all have it.
-
Great, thanks Retronic :)
-
Thank you Retro, I didn't have this one. You're a good ripper.
-
I'm slowly getting into this series and from what I hear already it's great, really great...Thank again for sharing Retro!

Another slice of the early 70's for your ears.

Beautiful. Thank you Retro.
-
Thank you Retronic for sharing this great series. Cavendish 4 is very nice indeed, I love especially the first side with the Ray Davies sounds.
My favorite song is Two-way Stretch. Listening to this album makes me cheerful. :)
-
Many thanks Retronic, I'm in love with all those CAV !
-
'The Ray Davies Sounds of the 70's' - now that's a winner. Thanks, Retro!
-
Thank you Retro. Fuzz Box Guitar... :o :)
-
Superb, thanks a lot Retronic :)
-
Thanks for No.8 Retronic!
Your FLAC rip upgrades my already lofty 128 copy, and I agree that Cavendish is an under rated label for sure.
The way I was introduced to this label is by the Winchester Hospital (Radio?) Series of comps from the old Kosmobells blog. Anybody else remember that blog?
Speaking of which, I really dig those Winchester comps, too.
With the newest incarnation of LMT, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE, once again. Those old comps will turn up one day in FLAC or WAV and we'll all rejoice. And go streaking. Maybe.
Nice thread! Another capital idea, my good chap!
-
I have some of those WHR comps.
-
Yes, I have several of the comps, too.
Unfortunately, all of mine -1 are of the Lossy variety. In fact, they're almost exclusively FAKE 320. The best I've got of that is a verified 192. WooHoo!
I do have one, which Mr had mentioned earlier in the thread, Standby For Swing in FLAC. But that's all.
But what music! Great stuff.
These comps will make the rounds around again, and the next time will be in be LOSSLESS.
-
I'd say I've bagged my limit today. But the Game Warden's not working today and there is NO limit. So there!
Thank you Retronic for almost single-handedly transforming my Cavendish folder from trashy to FLAC-y in the span of a single day!
Thanks also to Your Pal Doug and Blackwatch for notable assists.
You've all majorly made my day :)
-
Did I miss no. 5? Do we have that one?
-
I stopped midway. I have ripped them all. I'll dig them out.
-
Personally, I'm missing 5, 6 and 7 in HQ. Did I miss something?
-
No, they’re the three I’ve yet to upload.
-

Bingo! Me, too. Thanks for the reminder Greta!!
-
No, they’re the three I’ve yet to upload.
Great then. Thanks RT.
-
Looks like I've not ripped yet so will do over the weekend :-)
-
Awesome thank you Retro!
-
Newbie here, and it doesn't look like anyone's been by in moths. If someone makes it back around, I'd love to get FLAC/WAV of the 1-10 and any other early CAV's. Thanks!

Would you please be willing to share these songs that were featured in "Prisoner"? All the zippyshare links are defunct (since zippy no longer exists, of course). Or if you could share Volume 10. It would be appreciated.
