Me and potzorbie were working on these a while back, some nostalgia, for those who've been around may have downloaded these first time around- April 2010 time in glorious 128kbps (all I knew how to do at the time). These will feel pedestrian now as all these tracks are well known and in all of our hard drives on their original LPs but to contextualize, there were very few old library LPs available to hear unless you bought the vinyl yourself back then which is likely why I amassed so many- I was on a hunt for all the Prisoner Cell Block H cues and so bought hundreds of records blind hoping it would have a track I had been after (for years). This was often the first time people had heard stuff so few cared about the condensed sound and poor quality. One of the first things I shared was a 128 of DWS/LP Mean and Dirty and people emailed me asking me not to share stuff and to keep it rare. Sampling library was still very popular at the time.

I think it was Stack who grabbed this at the time- thanks ;-)

Retro this is fantastic. I have 36 of your 128kbps versions. The oldest claiming to have been downloaded in August 2011! So it's great to have these upgrades. Thank you. Just one small thing the link for Sampled Library 7 is incorrect. It takes you to RT 169 Milky Way.
-
Cheers. Will fix in a bit
-
Gee..
Huge fan of comps here, and I'm happy you decided to upgrade your old works.
Cheers Retro, much appreciated.
-
Kudos to potzorbie who started it a while ago but has time today so thought I’d post them up.
-
Nostalgia! I love your archivist spirit, Retro. This is a great project :D
-
Such a wonderful share, great sound quality, thanks to Retro & potzorbie

Yep, kudos to potzorbie too!

I enjoyed "Hammerhead" (Simon Haseley) very much, but the original version from '72 is mono and your version is in stereo (and in general re-recorded?). Could you tell me what version you are using?

I enjoyed "Hammerhead" (Simon Haseley) very much, but the original version from '72 is mono and your version is in stereo (and in general re-recorded?). Could you tell me what version you are using?
It's from either [De Wolfe] - DWCD 255 - Various Artists - 70s- The Original Soundtrack (1999) or Bite Harder - Music De Wolfe Vol. 2 which both have the stereo version on.
-
Thank you for those responses. For some reason it was beyond me to check the library labels. There is something awesome about that track, this mix of styles, the funky and quirky melody, the drum breaks. It's a beautiful potpourri, but I am also usually a purist -- If it's mono, then taking a later-made stereo version is... off if you get what I mean.
I know this is somewhat of a strange question now, but do you think I should go with the mono version because it's the "real" thing or take the stereo versions and tag it as 1972? I mean, that is probably what it supposed to sound like if stereo was an option (if that was no option. I dunno, I am just guessing here. The version on Youtube is mono, but the crackles and surface noise is in stereo, so it's not the guy's setup).
-
Not long after this release, De Wolfe shifted to Stereo releases with DW/LP changing to DWS/LP so I assume this was recorded in stereo but just released as mono and the original tape recording was in stereo which is what they use on any reissues of the track.
Here's a version from the old LP: pixeldrain.com/u/Ehfu3RQK

Fantastic! Thank you very much for your effort - and this pragmatic and swift way of solving my very personal nerdy problem!
You know what, I will take both versions! I did that already with two other tracks. "Locomitchum" from the April Orchestra (or Slim Pezin to be more precise) has two versions of which the later version is so much more 80s pop that I could not neglect it. Also, "Exhibition" from David Wilson has a "quasi remix" a few years later which is kinda the same track but with a faster pace.
It might be my ears or the mono downmix or the medium, but the difference of the two Hammerheads is just too much to simply scrap one for the favour of the other. Yes, as said, it's a nerdy problem, but I have another war at the OMNIMUSIC front right now, so I can dive into that now again after I solved this part of my hobby.

These are a few tracks shy of a FLAC full house.

RT 124 - Life In Days is missing the Dan Seeper title track if anyone has it.
What album is it on?
Would like to help but I can't locate it.
-
It's on 'Brain Motion' - released in both Italy and France on different labels.
-
As you may know, normally this is "not quite my jam". But these compilations are so incredibly interesting to me!
It shows how well you picked these tracks, because when these full albums are being shared, I usually skip through and can't really add something to my own collection.
But you really select only the finest and even out of my desired eras but those tracks are refining my musical treasure chest.
I just want to say that you make me - and many - very happy. LMT is really such an amazing project, and its shares are a big junk of my daily little pleasures!
-
That’s really nice of you to say. These were made in a fairly ad hoc way; pulling records off the shelf and flicking through and putting aside things I like the sound of. It’s really lovely to hear that you’re enjoying things you wouldn’t normally. Library music is such a wide spectrum and my interests change regularly.
-

Right, yeah. Unfortunately I don't have flac rips of those releases.
I thought I had a couple of the missing flacs from 148 Funky Ride, but they seem to be fake lossless.
I tried..
-
I have a list of all the missing tracks we are looking for in lossless if anyone would like to help with that.
-
This is absolutely Brilliant, thanks a lot Retronic and Potzorbie. Been waiting for these lossless compilations to come along.
Excellent work. 8]
Yes please submit a list of the missing lossless tracks, i will see what i can do. :)

Some of the comps I couldn't find a tracklist to. The rest is what I haven't been able to find in lossless.

RT 180 - Slow Beat is missing the track 'Funky Strut' in FLAC- I can't remember where it's from.

Thank you guys. Nice job.
-
This one was an interesting one- very bizarre low budget film from Derek Ford, who also gave us 'Take An Easy Ride'- also full of De Wolfe music and another I did a comp for on RT. Check them out.

I was and am a big horror fan but no longer have the stomach for the nasties of the 70's & 80's - this one was a bit random and not that successful- just a mix of horror based tracks

Thanks!

Marvellous, thanks again Retronic and Potzorbie. This series of compilations is on my top 3 of all time. Really appreciate the wonderful work. :)

:D ;)
Here's another bunch of randoms:
RT 104 - Scream For Vengeance: Watching this on Intervision video I bought from a car boot sale I recognised a lot of the music from Prisoner Cell Block H- didn't they scalp Chrissie Latham to 'In Danger'? This was an early comp and didn't have a proper cover- just the pic of him pitchforked from the video cover. I re-did this cover towards the end of Retro-Teque I think

RT 120 - The Hanged Man (Episode 1)
I had intended to do more but at this time it meant watching the episode, stopping every time there was music and checking the files to find it and even though the whole series was from the two Drama Suite LPs the tracks are largely thematic so it was time consuming so I lost the faith after one episode!

Not sure what I was thinking with this one!

RT 177 - Dirty Country
What was this all about? I think I was inspired by the 'Dirty River' track in 'Diversions' and off I went
I still like the cover though

Thank you very much Retro for another bunch of upgraded comps.
I'd love to help with some comp, as I have the mp3 ones, but I'm sure it would be hard for me to locate all the tracks and see if I have the matching lossless albums.
I don't have the spare time I used to have till a month ago cause the new job always keeps me heavily busy, but I'll try some next weekend.
-
I think the better ones have been done ;)
Just wanted to post the covers ;D
-
Oh, ok, I see.
My completist side was going straight with the idea to make them all!
-
Thanks Retro & potzorbie for yesterday's and today's upgraded RT compilations.
-
Greta if you have any of the missing files I posted in lossless that would be great! I've found many of them on Soulseek but they were all upscaled. As well as Retro's comps I've been working on Webdigga/[(sub)]'s and Fraykers old comps and upgrading everything I can to lossless as well as my ongoing Sample Comps series.

I do not! Too bad the links are dead. I've only stumbled upon a few lossless rips but of course none of the tracks that I'm looking for.
-
I have them. This is Disc 1 attributed to Walter Murphy:
pixeldrain.com/u/d94eFNrm
It’s in Apple Lossless but easily converted to FLAC if you want. I’ll upload the other discs tomorrow.
EDIT: All four discs now uploaded in FLAC under the original topic for consistency here https://librarymusicthemes.com/index.php?topic=1538.msg44293#msg44293. CDs 3 and 4 are not attributed to a specific artist so there may be additional Walter Murphy tracks there.
-
I'm being a big fan of the two Turing comps. Cheers, Roboto/Retronic!
PS >> If at some point you should happen to stumble upon a larger picture for RT-166, don't hold it back.
-
Fantastic work to both of you Potzorbie/Retronic
Thanks a lot !

Thanks for the last ones Retro!

Hi potzorbie,
I'll be home only in the weekends from now on, and have not that much time.
But I would like to help.
I'll have a look to see if I find something in my folders, although it would be extremely helpful for me to know what record each track is taken from..
Is it possible to know that?

Oh, I forgot to mention that as for the "Tema Bambino" I didn't know which one was the right one cause the mp3 comp I have was missing few tracks including this one. And that's why I added the three versions.
and
"Gurney Slade" by Max Harris is slightly different from the "The World Of Gurney Slade" on your comp, but just couldn't find another one and thought to add it anyway.
-
I found the same 3 Tema Bambino tracks you did but none of them match the mp3 version so I have no idea where it could be from.
-

Hi,
here is a list and the zip of what I found from the last RT comps you pointed out Retro.
I don't know if they're of any help or if you/potzorbie have already these.

mega.nz/file/2ZAyDK5Y#pgbsUkRHoUlFVe45iOxQ0Y7h0FYwsizcq8AQkhjYCvk
ps: the Tanner from RT 176, from what Tanner album is from? I have many, but for now I could only spot the SPM 103, with that title (Disco Rhythm)
plus, all the tracks on those Tanners SPM series are in four versions (1min, 30sec, 20sec, 10sec, and yours seems to be 2:17 long?)
-
Great addition- thanks as always Greta!
-
Just to note RT 144 - Johnny Scott - Ya Ba Ba needed editing as it goes on for over 7 minutes with more than half of that being the run out click!. It's the same (faulty) version that was shared with PIL 9002 back in January. The corrected version is here: pixeldrain.com/u/JzRjB2ay

Doubt if anyone collect all the stuff tha Retro-The magnificent project collection, because I miss a lot of them
such a great project, I am wishing to collect all of them, thank you all the best
-
Unfortunately I can only find the old lossless versions- I can't remember if I upgraded all or just some
-
Never mind Retronic, you've been eager to help everyone when you can, that's nice.
Best wishes to you my friend.
-
Unfortunately I can only find the old lossless versions- I can't remember if I upgraded all or just some
Of the ones I have you upgraded the following: RT101, 103-105, 108, 109, 112, 115, 120, 127, 132, 141, 150, 153, 166, 167, 169, 175 and 179.
You/Greta partially upgraded: RT110, 111, 114, 121, 124, 128, 134, 139, 140, 143, 144, 147-149, 152, 154-156, 176, 177 and 180.
The rest are in lossy format: RT106, 113, 118, 119, 123, 125, 126, 129, 130, 142, 157-163 and 165.
If I get the chance I'll try to upload some of them. But it's a bit busy at the mo and I'm on my travels at the end of the week. So it may have to wait a while unless someone else can oblige before me.
-
Thanks Nidostar. I followed Retronic’s blog when it was first published and downloaded most of these. We share similar tastes and grabbing the music that Prisoner used in the 70’s and early 80’s. They were of course 128kbos rips like most of my vinyl rips at the time.
When I had a hard drive crash a few years back most of these were lost but couldn’t get them back as the links expired. So would love to get these back again and upgrade to lossless. Thanks for everyone’s hard work in bringing these back to life again and look forward to Nidostars links soon

No problem, Tony. My upload speed is diabolical out here in the sticks in France. But next weekend I'll be back in the UK in the land of fibre and hopefully will be able to share all that I have after that.

I did half of RT 166 - TURING BYTES but haven't ripped Electron from the Atmosphere LP (ATMOS 003) so hit a standstill- redone half of it though so will record that track and finish it soon

Nice one 👍

Starting with the RT's in lossy format that weren't upgraded from last year's upgrade exercise here's 119, 123, 126 and 130 with one apology. Not all the compilations are complete because at the time I was short of storage space and needed to strip out the tracks that I had already had. Remember this was 14 years ago and life was different then! It's certainly not something I would even think of doing today.
If we were able to have access to the individual listings of each compilation I'm sure it wouldn't take much to recreate each comp in its entirety.
I see I have already upgraded my copy of Turing Bytes. Would you like me to share that, Retro, or are you close to doing that yourself?
