"Dinha Mantha's Power" is great once past the first vocal track but I'd like a second opinion on whether it is an honest 320kb

Hello LMT friends,

A short escape from the village to LMT to bring you my own vinyl rip made this morning.
A pretty brilliant record. Brass & Grooves inside. So here it is in FLAC 24-48 kHz.

Hope to be back soon after a long break up. I had a lot of problems with my audio system.
Was not able to digitalizing efficiently any LP...

If this rip failed, i'll try again with Golem's Technics SL-1210MK2 & Nagaoka MP-110 cell.

One more thing : A friend of mine own's the original "Vade Retro" record. I had to ask him.
But it will take some time...

So, enjoy the Dinha Mantha's Power !

Be seeing you  ;)

New Link replacing my first wrong ViNYLRiP (bad frequencies due a faulty electrical outlet)

... So, enjoy the Dinha Mantha's Power ! ...

Thank you, n6!

If I may ask: why did you apply a low-pass filter at 21 kHz?

Hi likedeeler,

I've no idea about the 21kHz low-pass filter in Audacity. It seems that the default preset shows 1000,0 Hz frequency and 6dB roll-of (dB per octave).
I've to confess that i'm not familiar with very fine settings in my audio & recording editor.

This record was made under '"direct source" through the amplifier, without any bass or treble addition. Then the final result came from Audacity.

Anyway, I will be curious to learn more about this setting to provide better audio records in the near future.

Maybe it is possible to equalize this in post production ?

Thanks for any tips  :)

Thanks for posting. As well as the 21khz LP filter (which looks like a brick wall cut off) there is also a constant tone at 15khz on every B side track. I thought I was getting tinnitus lol (not a good thing in my profession). You may have an issue with the inputs on whatever you are recording with dude. Thank you for sharing though.

Hi likedeeler & cliquid,

I know why now, because it came from my faulty electrical outlet. Causing this high-pitched whistle on most tracks from the b-side.
Since I no longer have anything plugged into this electrical outlet, i do not hear anything causing trouble during recording.

I just moved into a new house for two month, and i discover this for few days !

My friend Golem found frequencies like 13858 Hz and 4500 Hz.

I apologize for this inconvenience, so, i made a new rip with a new lineage (replaced in my original post)
recorded with Golem's Technics SL-1210MK2 turntable & Nagaoka MP-110 cell.

let me know, finally, if now this Dinha Mantha's Power sounds good !

Be seeing you  ;)

Hi n6! The low-pass is not a problem, I was just curious. Many if not most CDs are mastered with a cut-off (or fade-out) at 20 or 21 kHz.

Generally it's a good idea to keep any "postproduction" at home to an absolute minimum (approximately zero). The actually important factors for good LP rips are in preproduction:

- record player, pick-up, tone arm,
- cables, connectors,
- power supply,
- phono preamp, amplifier,
- (stand-alone) A/D converter,
- monitor loudspeakers, headphones, (stand-alone) D/A converter,
- no "USB player",
- no computer sound card for A/D or D/A conversion (if you insist on using one it needs to be of the hi-fi variety),
- nothing in the signal path that isn't absolutely necessary -- particularly no "DJ mixer",
- vinyl cleaning (!).

As soon as the sound has been digitised it should be considered immutable. Think "That's the way this record, in this state, with this recording set-up sounded like on this day." If you're not content with the result, try to improve your gear, get an ultrasonic cleaning machine etc. Don't try to fudge it by tampering with the digital files. It regularly leads to disaster -- as evidenced by about 80 to 90 per cent of all vinyl rips floating around.

Except manually getting rid of the odd pop and click there is simply nothing to improve after digitisation -- it can only get worse. Any dynamic compression, equalisation, automatic de-clicking or de-noising should be anathema. What these tools and techniques really offer the home user is the significant potential to damage the recorded sound.

To get an impression of what is (possibly) involved, consult Avant Garde Project's description (http://dream.cs.bath.ac.uk/AvantGardeProject/analog.html).

Hi likedeeler

Thanks a lot for all these informations. It actually took me some time to find a stable audio configuration. I agree to avoid any form of effect after recording. I only use click removal when there are really too many clicks (information in the lineage file).

So, i remain as faithful as possible to the original recording in direct source on the amp.
If needed, anyone can, later, modify the sound by himself in post production (more or less bass, more or less treble etc...)

And also, very interesting the link to Avant Garde Project, thanks again  :)
