Would anybody know why the song Polyphony on this album sounds so similar to Invention On Alessandro Alessandroni's Farfalla lp? Is there a connection?

Nice catch - it seems Brugnolini is actually credited for both tracks, so I'm guessing he was involved with both, and simply reused the same motif. The tracks are attributed like this:
"Polyphony" (Sandro Brugnolini/Stefano Torossi)
"Invention" (Alessandro Alessandroni/Sandro Brugnolini)

I had this in MP3, but I have made the decision to slowly transition to FLAC at least for my important albums, and I'd definitely count this among them.
