Title: Studio One Albums on the Sonoton Music Site
Post by: WSBG Returns Yet Again! on April 07, 2026, 05:38:44 AM
Not sure if anybody knows about this or not, but since January 28th of this year, Sonoton started re-issuing LPs from Studio One. Currently, the first ten LPs are available on the site. Hopefully more will be added soon.

*BUMP* Just noticed some flaws with the re-issues, as Jungle Baby's Studio One re-issue on the Sonoton site uses the edited version from SCD 261 (The version with the jungle sound effects, which aren't originally in the original vinyl release version of the track).

Oh, that's very cool! I'm glad Sonoton is putting so much effort into re-releasing their archives, there's some excellent stuff on here. I hope they'll get around to the remaining 34 in due time, too.

Thanks for sharing!

edit: A particular treat with Sonoton's reissue efforts is that they add previously unknown information to go along with the digital reissue - now we finally have some concrete dates for these!
I have added this info to the Studio One (https://librarymusicthemes.com/index.php?topic=171.0) thread.

Very nice! Let's see if they get added to APM in the next month or two. The Intersound Vinyl albums aren't on APM and they've been on the Sonoton site for a while, but then again, GT-8 & GT-9 and (i believe) some of the Pro-Viva albums were exclusive to the Sonoton site for a while and were later added to APM so lets see.

Yes, the recent Sonoton book dates the records as well. Finally good to know for sure.

That's cool! The only thing that i find annoying is that, in the Sonoton website, they added a watermark in the audios.

Hopefully if these get added to APM the watermarks get removed. (They probably will)

Sorry, a week late! The original version of Jungle Baby sans jungle sound effects is on Strut's KPM Music For Dancefloors as is Brazil Express.

Here's an update: S.O. 11-20 have been uploaded to the Sonoton website. I've also checked the S.O. 18 album to see if they've decided to release the unedited versions because that's the album I've wanted to see the most. It appears those have the edited versions too for Side A. I am so disappointed.

Either it was a small oversight in the metadata considering it is the same as the CD reissues or the original source/master tapes that got dubbed/altered over beyond repair.
