Recently I got a lot of 35 library music tapes in the mail, all originally from Emil Ascher. The tapes I got all feature cues from LPs, and the 35 tapes feature cues from KPM, JW Theme Music, FDH Mood Music, Harmonic, Ring Musik, Berry Music Programme Production (Listed as a Conroy tape for some reason). These tapes are 15 ips, but my tape player can only go to 7 ips, so I had to speed them to the right speed, and even then, the tracks are at a slightly faster speed than their original LP counterparts, so I had to adjust the speed by about 1.932x (Or 93.2%) to get the tracks to the original pitches. This post will serve as a preview of what I got in this lot. I'm still digitizing these tapes right now, but I will put the tapes I got in a master post, like the March 2025 lot of 78s post I made (Although for now, I'm gonna put that on hiatus, because of me digitizing the tapes). The two tapes featured in this preview post are Harmonic tapes, specifically Reels No. 155 and 156, which are Sides A and B of CBD 609 - Beat!. This LP has some tracks I think you will enjoy, so here they are:
Harmonic Reel No. 155 - transfer.it/t/hotmKs0llTxC
Harmonic Reel No. 156 - transfer.it/t/gPGxq48HABCA
Enjoy! =)

What a treasure! Thanks for sharing.

Good work, WSBG! These sound a bit brighter than the 609 rip I had. I was always partial to Side A.

Thanks for this!
Especially looking forward to seeing whatever rare tape-only goodies might be hiding on these reels!

My goodness you've got your work cut out for you. 35 tapes, phew. Many thanks WSBG for your hard work and willingness to share these treasures. I can't wait for the remaining 33, ha, ha! In your own time of course.
Interesting that doubling the speed of the 7˝ips tape to 15ips left the cues running slightly fast. Maybe the tapes themselves were originally duplicated at a slightly faster speed. Whatever you've solved the problem. And I know from experience it can be enormously satisfying to tackle recording issues like this. Well done for sticking at it.

I believe the tracks were duplicated at a faster speed, because it's the same slightly higher pitch for these tracks, even when they are playing at 7 1/2 IPS.

Thanks! CBD 609 was one of the Harmonic LP's on my personal list of library records. Hopefully there's more of those albums from that label among those tapes! ;D

Thank you for these - very interesting! Looking forward to hearing more!
