Retronic's recent inclusion of Standard Music Library ESL 149 Pastoral inspired me to look over my collection of that library which I feel is sadly overlooked. I must admit it's pretty poor with only 30 albums and most of those in lossy. The library features a number of well-known composers such as Sam Fonteyn, Alan Braden, James Clarke etc. I was surprised to see ESL 66 in the digital series even features a piece written by the brilliant Dudley Moore.
I was wondering if anyone has any of the Standard albums in their collection that they might be prepared to share. For reference what I already have in lossless are ESLs 002, 004, 005, 069, 108, 120, 121, 126, 129, 134, 136, 140, 144, 148, 149, 156 and 157. Any others in the vinyl or digital series would be most welcome. Equally if anyone would like a share of those I've listed here let me know.
-
Hello Nidostar,
I don't have any Standard releases in lossless/flac however, I'm interested in sharing your files of the following, that I don't have in my collection.
ESL 108, 120.
Thank you.
-
I'd also like to hear ESL 108 as well, as the only track I have left to hear from that album is "Turned In" by Max Harris, while I've heard all the rest of the tracks on various albums on Standard Music's website.
Personally, the other Standard vinyls I would like to have shared from any other user who has them are:
ESL 103 - Solo Guitar (for the tracks "Studio Blues" and "Solitary Confinement")
ESL 115 - Activity/Travel
ESL 123 - Small Group Pop
ESL 125 - Christmas General / Christmas Traditional (for the track "Eldon Way")
ESL 135 - Romantic - Activity / Music Box
ESL 138 - Light and Bright
ESL 145 - Fun and Games
ESL 146 - Guitars
ESL 153 - Through The Eyes Of A Tourist (for the tracks, "I'm A Country Member", "Tudor Cud", and "Hampton Caught")
ESL 158 - Piano Music - Romantic/Pastoral (for the track "Hooded Shadows")
ESL 159 - Contemporary Themes
ESL 160 - Light and Bright (for the tracks "Question & Answer", "Turbo Drive", "Red Square Dance", and "Sport-O-Matic")
ESL 161 - Christmas Spirit (for the tracks "Snow Snow Thick Thick Snow" and "Good Tidings On This Day")
ESL 163 - Links and Stings
Thank you!
-
I just checked what I already have ripped and these are the same deal as the De Wolfe's- recorded ages ago before I cleaned them post ripping and not properly checked for mistakes.
I do have all the records except 148/169/170 but I think FLACs exist for those. So I will record the good ones missing from the list above but in the meantime can post up links for those ones- hopefully not all and just ones that are missing for most.
-
Thank you Retro that's very kind of you. I look forward to listening to those that are new to me. Having listened again to what I have the Standard library has some really good stuff written by many of the top library composers of the time. I'm puzzled why it never gets as much attention as the likes of KPM, De Wolfe etc.
As requested here's ESL 108 ==> pixeldrain.com/u/BuaM24Ub featuring the absolutely brilliant Crack Shot by Max Harris
And ESL 120 ==> pixeldrain.com/u/yQuxQkjy
Both not my rip but thanks to the OP, possibly Retro?
-
Thanks for ESL 108, nidostar!
And Retro, can you check if your copy of ESL 123 has the track, "Billiards"? From the copies I've seen on Soulseek, they appear to have that track omitted for some reason. Must be a later re-issue of the same album.
Also, updated list from my previous comment.
-
It doesn't even though the cover and label state it has-- I checked the record and it is a track short.
However that track is on this which I do have so I could slot it in

-
Lord Thames may have the OG ESL 123 with Billiards
-
Okay, that's alright either way. I just wanted to make sure I'm not listening to an incomplete album. I'm also jonesing to hear ESL 140 from either you or nidostar as well.

"Jonesing"? Is that a typo or am I out of touch with library street speak, ha, ha? Here you go kablamatic ESL 140 ==> pixeldrain.com/u/1WjfV6sE

He’s all fixed up now
-
Thanks again, nidostar! And yes, you did read right! ;D
-
Thanks again, nidostar! And yes, you did read right! ;D
Okay. So what's "jonesing" mean?
-
Jonesing is a slang term used to describe having an intense, insatiable craving, desire, or longing for someone or something. While it originated as drug slang for addiction in the 1960s, it has evolved into a common term for any strong craving, such as needing coffee, food, or a specific activity
-
Well, I'm 'jonesing' to listen to them too. Thank you for the uploads.
-
Thanks Retro. Silly me I could have looked it up myself! I see it’s an Americanism - known to Merriam-Webster but not the OED - hence as a native English speaker I’d not heard the term before. Next time I’ll run your posts through Google Translate kablamatic!! 😂😂
-
I did record some records today- from memory 107/118/128/130/134/143. I won’t have time to edit them
Until Saturday.

Thank you for ESL 138 LT.
-
Thanks, Lord Thames! ;) Ticked that off my list!
-
I do have a few lossles to share from the above lists.
I'll up all I have this weekend, so, no need for Retro to rip everything.
We can then see what is stil missing, and hope Retro could give again an extra hand.
And thanks LT for ESL 138, which is totally new to me.
-
Yes. Sounds good. I love a team effort!

ESL 118 - Pop/ Rock Sounds /Multi-Keyboard Sounds [FIXED]
pixeldrain.com/u/7xX5PLmK
I have a bunch recorded and will edit over next few days ;)
-
Well that was a bit of a surprise. ESL 118 has 8 tracks composed by the legendary Max Middleton. So, with regards my view that the Standard Library is sadly overlooked I rest my case. Thank you very much indeed Retro.
-
Regarding ESL 118.....Brilliant!
Thanks for the treat Retronic
Your pal,
Doug

thank you.

Thanks a lot for n.118 Retro!

Standard LP run (no CD's)
I'm taking nidostar's list as a refrence here, and sharing the lossless he doesn't have.
Kablamatic's list, it contains only missings for me too, except a couple I'm sharing here.
In this share you'll find n. 102, 104, 106, 107, 109, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117, 119, 122, 123, 124, 127, 128, 130, 131, 133, 135, 139, 142, 143, 147, 152, 162 (phew, I thought I had less to share..)
As I always say, please, if you find some faulty file just let me know. I'm not checking/listening few of these since a bit of time..
To make a quick recap after this, and after Retro's last shares, I think the missing numbers should be these:
101, 103, 105, 110, 125, 132, 136, 137, 141, 145, 146, 150, 151, 153, 154, 155, 158, 159, 160, 161, 163, 164, 165, 166, 167.
Whatever it can come to our ears it's much welcome for me, old or new rips.

Super.
Many thanks Retro for these last shares.
-
A big thank you to everyone for the many uploads of Standard LPs. There's a lot that they haven't digitised or have lost the rights.
-
Thank you Greta for 115, 123 (minus the missing track), and 135.
For those of you who forgot, it looks like the issue of ESL 123's mystery track has been covered in a previous post: librarymusicthemes.com/index.php?topic=3308.0

Greats rips, Retronic! While i was listening to ESL 136, i had the impression that one of the singers in the songs "Forge Ahead (with voices)" and "J.W. Special (with voices)" is Tina Charles, but i'm not sure about it.
-
Yes, I always thought it was Tina Charles as well! It would have been just before I Love To Love, but I suppose she was still doing sessions at the time.

I downloaded the ESL 141 album and the file from the song "Tenderness" is corrupted (is not playing on my computer). Can you fix it, Retronic?
-
Thanks so much for the new rips Retro, much appreciated.
ps, I confirm that track Tendernes from ESL 141 is corrupted (well, missing, we could say, cause the file is only few KB big).
-
Thanks! Another one off the list!
-
Thank you especially for ESL 141, where there are wonderful Polish composers and themes close to my heart. Thanks Retronic

Hey, Retro, I appreciate all the new rips and upgrades of Standard albums, but could you also upload your rip of ESL 120? It appears that in nidostar's copy and possibly others on Soulseek, the audio for "The Loner (Version 2)" has been replaced by both "Fading Faces" and "Feeling Low" in one audio file. Plus, there's a skip around the one minute mark of "Winding Road".
Here's what "The Loner (Version 2)" is supposed to sound like:
And finally, here's what I've narrowed down to on my list of Standards:
ESL 103 - Solo Guitar (for the tracks "Studio Blues" and "Solitary Confinement")
ESL 125 - Christmas General / Christmas Traditional (for the track "Eldon Way")
ESL 153 - Through The Eyes Of A Tourist (for the tracks "I'm A Country Member", "Tudor Cud", and "Hampton Caught")
Thanks in advance!
-
I've done a new rip of my copy of ESL 120 recently - it's a first pressing with The Loner 2 on it (I think there was some discussion about whether it was missing from later versions), I'll upload later
-
Thank you for spotting that kablamatic. Yes, the track claiming to be The Loner (Version 2) is, as you say, Fading Faces plus Feeling Low combined. Clearly a hiccup when whoever split the rip into individual tracks. Let's wait for Lord Thames's rip. In the meantime, if it helps, here's an ALAC version of The Loner (Version 2) taken from tuneboy's Sound Library Vol 87 Standardized ==> pixeldrain.com/u/SzxhXGFz
